If you were violently vilified, ostracized, and told you’re a mentally unfit by a majority of the population every day of your life… how stable would you be?
That's what drives them to become transgender in most cases i think. They don't fit in to increasingly narrow conceptions of what are considered masculine or feminine traits and for that reason they get bullied and belittled and they adopt trans identity because of the social rewards that come with being in a protected class with victim status.

It is true that trans people have a higher rate of mental illness… they are also often victims of immense physical abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect… which *checks notes* leads to mental illness.
How about 10 years ago, 20, 50, 100? When in human history has it ever been more socially acceptable to identify as transgender?
I think some people choose to be transgender… mainly those who are the victims of immense abuse… others because there is a bit of a trend and they’re a bit off.
I think others have legit gender dysmorphia and legit do not identify with the gender they are born into and assigned at birth.
Regardless, this idea that therapists or teachers… what have you… are driving people to be transgender in any real sense is nonsense. The thing I hate is that people (mainly conservatives) hear a story about how parents encouraged their child with gender dysmorphia to explore what feels best for their kid and support it. It then gets twisted into nonsense about drag show readings and therapists forcing kids to get gender surgery b/c the Charlie Kirk’s of the world make money off of fear.
And replying to your second point… ya, 70 years ago black people got to drink out of water fountains and use the same bathrooms white people used for the first time. What a bonus! It doesn’t make the beliefs of the time and the barbarity of those beliefs any less heinous. And the people who perpetuated that hate always end up on the wrong side of history.
70 years from now progress for accepting that trans people exist, they’re not “icky,” and they don’t want to hurt people will be the norm. What I say is why not just get on the right side of history now rather than being like DanielVogelmoron?
