I wanted one of the offensive guys out there. I think Ben Johnson was one....I'd have to use the Google machine to find the others.

Two reasons I didn't want a Defensive guy are one full display. They are ultra conservative, and bright young offensive minds know that and don't want to go work for them.
Yeah, i was trying to remember who was considered offensive minded...you don't believe Kingsbury is considered a bright offensive mind? Todd Monken? I think that's too broad a generalization to say that bright offensive minded coaches won't work for defensive oriented HC's
You can picture Kliff Kingsbury as a little boy sitting in his playpen, Legos scattered all around. He’s working and fitting, figuring and building. A benevolent adult wanders over and places something unfamiliar on the floor. It’s a Deebo Samuel, whatever that is. That toddler version of Kingsbury could pick it up, turn it around, study its potential uses — and then giggle at the possibilities. What to do with this brand-new toy? So much fun.
I also liked the O Line guy from Detroit I believe, but he decided to stay in Detroit. It is often over looked that we interviewed a lot of guys, that decided to stay where they were at or go elsewhere. JS takes no heat for anything though, so OBVIOUSLY? MM was a genius hire and we just have to accept that. Again, it's now the players fault that the offense doesn't work. I bet Grubb and Huff are getting a kick out of that.

Should some consideration be given to the notion that the Niners extracted useful intelligence from MVS with regard to the Seahawks playbook and the audibles jargon etc.
I think they needed to assume he told them what he could, it should have been taken for granted to have happened. seems like they could have used someone like him sunday but they probably wouldn't have utilized him either if they had kept him
“I mean, look, he’s a really smart player,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters this week. “He’s probably going to give them information. That stuff happens all the time. Some things you can take into account, some things you’ve just got to call it and haul it.”

This does happen often. Former Los Angeles Rams wideout Cooper Kupp coming to Seattle is the most obvious and most recent example of a team signing a player from a division rival. And the Seahawks have made these moves just as often with players coming from division rivals. They claimed former 49ers defensive back D.J. Reed off waivers in 2020 and signed former Arizona Cardinals receiver Jaron Brown in 2018. Just last week, they signed linebacker Chazz Surratt after he cut by the 49ers and added him to the 53-man roster, and claimed cornerback Derion Kendrick off waivers after he was released by the Rams.

Michael Bumpus put it more bluntly on Tuesday’s edition of Bump and Stacy.

“He’ll give some pointers on how to beat a guy,” Bumpus said. “‘Spoon (Devon Witherspoon) doesn’t like this, Coby (Bryant) doesn’t like this.’ But your language is your language, man. And if those coaches are relying on MVS to give them a nugget to win a ball game, go ahead and sign your retirement papers and get up out the league.”

The truth is there is information Valdes-Scantling can give San Francisco, and the 49ers are certainly going to use it. It’s a nice advantage in a big Week 1 matchup. But, like Macdonald said, it’s not a challenge teams are unfamiliar with.

JS on the release of MVS, might have been nice if they had tried chucking one of them the football sunday
“The receiving corps is really strong,” Schneider said when asked about the back-end receiver decisions. “We really like it, especially the physicality of it. There’s a really nice combination of receivers. … There’s a really cool uniqueness to all of them, and there’s a cool physicality with Bobo and Dareke and Cody. And (that’s) really important in this scheme. You have to be able to block. And so we like the group.

notice how MM and JS seem to sound alike, things like "pretty cool"...maybe that's why they hired him
The Forward pass is something we don't believe in. We don't want yards and points, we want the defense sitting on the sidelines hydrating, so if we lose we can't blame them. Defensive Coaching 101.
