Re: Postmortem: Seattle v Metcalfdropsemburgh
I would encourage everyone complaining about Darnold to go watch his post game presser from yesterday - dude looks low key very excited - you can see he is absolutely amped up after that game. I love that for him. I am one of those that are rooting for him, managing expectations, while not passing career judgement on him after two games in a new system with new players. I like to let it breathe a little bit and crunch more data before making that judgement. But that's just me.

remember the story of Kupp taking him out to dinner and Darnold wanting to go have chicken strips and fries, JS saying darnold is a "guy". In that sense he is probably the polar opposite of RW as a teammate. I get the feeling he is well likedauroraave wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:08 pmI would encourage everyone complaining about Darnold to go watch his post game presser from yesterday - dude looks low key very excited - you can see he is absolutely amped up after that game. I don't know a thing about the guy, looking at darnolds wiki, i was interested what part of the country he was from. He was a basketball player, seemed to be a late start to football. They didn't have much tape of him as a qb when he was requited to USC. Even then the DC wanted him to play linebacker. Maybe he is a late bloomer
During his high school basketball career, Darnold excelled and was named South Coast League Most Valuable Player twice, along with being named to the all-CIF team. Basketball coach Marc Popovich stated Darnold's basketball skills helped translate into football, being the "only guy [I've] ever had who could get a defensive rebound and launch a 70-foot pass on target, pretty much in the same motion, to a guy breaking out in the fastbreak. It was almost Wes Unseld-like." Popovich added that Darnold could have played college basketball in the Pac-12 Conference or the Mountain West Conference "at worst."
On the football team, Darnold played wide receiver and linebacker, though he played quarterback as a sophomore after the starting quarterback was injured in a game against Tesoro High School.

Darnold's play of the game, doesn't look real spectacular but effective, 3rd and nine pass to Barner
https://x.com/ByJoshCarney/status/19676 ... y-steelers"That's the guy that shows up on tape," Macdonald said of the play via ESPN insider Brady Henderson. "He's done it his whole career, and he's doing it for us. And a really heads-up play. AJ understood to uncover and get in the scramble drill. I thought that was a tremendous play. It really changed the tide of the game."

Darnold as said will figure it out. Coaches will see best how to use this crew.
What I like about the offense is the running styles compliment each other.
There was actually a screen play I really liked featuring JSN.
Haven't seen a Seahawks team do too many screens in recent years.
Charbroiled will get better but he herks and jerks and shakes and bakes.
While K9 runs down hill and hurdles tacklers and extends the play for additional yards.
The O-Line I love it. These are some big human beings and they're only going to gel.
Defensive line is nice. I worry about our d-backs being shrimps.
I'm not too high yet on our linebackers either but it's way to early to judge.
Would've been nice to acquire Ramsey in the offseason.
Time to be devils vs. some saints.

The RB situation - it reminds me back in the day when DK would go off in one game and it be Lockett's turn the next.
Charbs is not as bad as that game and probably never better than a healthy Walker was yesterday.
Sorry for saying what I said after the 1st game, K9. lol.

Geno Smith
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS QBR RTG

Yikes. He is who we thought he was. God we dodged a bullet moving him. Loved his time but he could never put it together. You have to wonder how this is going to play out in LV for Pete Carroll. These reclamation projects - didn't he bring in Jamal Adams, too? Love Pete but I think this is gonna end badly for him and his legacy - already on display are all the faults and shortcomings we suffered through in Seattle. No discipline, no game plan, ugh, and the fans there are getting restless. Sadly I think he and his style have just aged out of today's game.
Anyone think it's going to go well for him?

I can't see it. But I have some questions... did Pete have somewhat of an advantage coming out of college because he knew so many players that were under the radar (Sherman, Baldwin, etc.)? Or am I just dreaming? Because they managed to put together a great team, and his cheerleading and endless optimism seemed to work. Until it didn't. So has the game passed him by? Or have the players passed him by? Or both?auroraave wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:43 pmThese reclamation projects - didn't he bring in Jamal Adams, too? Those SEA days truly were lightning in a bottle.
Re: Postmortem: Seattle v Metcalfdropsemburgh
He not only knew the players but he was genuinely loved - his positivity was a huge advantage - imagine him recruiting in Compton - he was way respected. Players coming out of college then were hungry - they were starving college students - a lot of them - now with NIL - I think it has killed all of that. It's about your brand and image and followers now - because ya'll already 'got paid" in college. I think motivation is mostly gone for a lot of these kids. Nothing more motivating than hunger. Lions aren't motivated to do anything after a big meal. Humans are the same. None of this is a knock on Pete - he's genuinely a great dude - but thinking he's going to capture what he had in 2013 is delusion at it's peak. It' a completely different game now. Ok, time to take a break and change the kick off format again.douche wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:51 pmI can't see it. Who is complaining about him. Other than the first pick he was very good yesterday. btw Geno is dead last in Passer rating. lolauroraave wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:08 pmI would encourage everyone complaining about Darnold to go watch his post game presser from yesterday - dude looks low key very excited - you can see he is absolutely amped up after that game.
