After the games on September 20th...

Magic number = any combination of Mariner Wins and Team X losses that will result in The M's finishing above team X in the standings.

7 games left to play.

Houston = 5

Cleveland = 5

Teams that cannot finish ahead of the M's: Texas, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Sacramento, Baltimore, Anaheim, Minnesota, Chicago

Other teams currently in playoff position that could come into play for playoff seeding.

Toronto = 11

Detroit = 6

New York = 9

Boston = 6 If the M's Win the Tie Breaker, 7 if Boston wins the tiebreaker. Tie Breaker will be determined by which team has the better record against their own division. M's are currently 33-18 in division with 1 division games remaining. Boston is currently 30-18 in division with 4 division games remaining. Third tiebreaker if it gets to that is record against the AL. Seattle is 64-49 with 1 game remaining, Boston is 59-48. with 7 games remaining.

With the standings the way they are now I think Id rather have the 2 seed. # 2 faces the winner of Detroit/ Cleveland, #1 Plays the winner of Boston/ New York.

Sweep Colorado and have Detroit lose just once and the Dodger series can be played by a bunch of Farm System guys.

Can't have more than 28 on the roster so I would imagine a lineup of:

C Garver
1B Naylor
2B Young
SS Rivas
3B Geno
LF Canzone
CF Raley
RF Robles
DH Cal
dt

MLB significantly changed its September call-up policy in 2020, transitioning from unlimited 40-man roster expansions to a strict 28-player active roster limit, with no more than 14 pitchers. This change, driven by the pandemic and supported by teams and players, replaced the decades-old practice of expanding rosters to 40 players to make way for minor leaguers whose seasons had ended.
