Not sure if they go Samad or they go Luke Jackson/Bryce Miller. I don't think you need more than 11 pitchers for the ALDS given the off days and the fact that you can put Kirby or Gilbert in the pen after they start. You're only going to use your top 5 relievers anyways.

Dipoto on the topic
“While we haven’t made the final decisions on those last spots, the great likelihood is we’ll go position-player heavy because of the nature of the short series,” he said, “and the fact that, at some point, one of our starters will be positioned in the bullpen, which we feel really helps that group out there.”
After making the start in Sunday’s series finale, Miller said he hadn’t had any specific conversations about coming out of the bullpen, but he was told to be “ready to go early in the series.”

“I don’t think I’ll have any issue getting ready and being able to do that,” Miller said. “I’ll be ready however they want me to.”

As for the final spots for position players, versatility is something the Mariners are coveting. Dipoto named Leo Rivas, Miles Mastrobuoni and Cole Young all as roster candidates with abilities to play multiple positions.

“We’ve already had a fair number of discussions regarding (the roster), and versatility is really valuable,” Dipoto said.
The Ford question
“Through the course of September, one of the benefits of bringing Harry was that (Mitch Garver) can DH against lefties, and we would have the ability to pinch-hit for him and still maintain a backup catcher, which is a pretty critical thing,” Dipoto said.
Probably the other question would be Miller

I think Miller is in the bullpen and Masterbunny is sitting out.

Hollander already said they are going with 12 pitchers. I think you have to have Miller on the roster in-case Woo has issues returning from the injury.

12 pitchers is stupid. Total waste. How much you want to bet, they only go 5 relievers deep? I think 5 relievers and Kirby or Gilbert gets an inning of relief if needed in a Game 4 or 5 situation.

I agree Miller is in, Castillo or others has a good 4 inning but a lot of pitches , Millers comes in for 2 or 3 innings of getting after it.

I know it is two very different sports but them M's are having scrimmages so they don't get to rusty due to the 5 day layoff. NFL typically has 6 days off between games though I know they do practice.

This stat from LL exemplifies why Miller makes roster and why RP will be important!

There’s one stat I think best summarizes the staff in 2025:

4.77 FIP in the 5th and 6th innings (27th in MLB)
3.68 FIP in all other innings (2nd in MLB
