Re: PFF grades thread
First four games from the past two seasons. Both teams started 3 and 1. One team gave up fewer sacks. I wonder which one it would be?
One team was 115/159 passing. 73%
The other was 70/100 passing. 70%
Crazy that the team that threw it 59 more times allowed more sacks.
We must be WAY better running the ball this year then right? Stats by game, last year and this year.
Last year 146, 46, 100, 133 = 425 yards
This year 84, 117, 87, 155 = 443
We average 3.6 yards per carry. At this point last year? 4.5 per carry. Yeah, what a HUGE step forward by this O Line.
The offense is still pretty shitty, only now? It also has zero chance at being explosive because we are so scared or our own shadow we won't allow it.
This is humorous, how badly we want to believe that John Schneider isn't full of shit, we look at shit like this and act like somehow someway? This O Line isn't still dogshit?

Sam Darnold is leading the NFL in explosive pass rate through the first four games of the 2025 season, with 22.1% of his passes resulting in gains of at least 16 yards, the highest rate in the league.

Yep, because they took the training wheels off when they had to against both the Niners and Cardinals, and they only HAD to because their conservative play calling forced their hands. You watch this fucking offense and see it going down field? Jesus.
Darnold has played very well, you are correct. When they have allowed it. But they only allow it when their fucking chicken shit game plan forced their hands. The fucking Niners lost to the Jags. Did you watch that game? The Niners had no business being on the field against us. McDonald just couldn't stand to let the offense play football. The Cardinals should have been watching fans empty the seats in the fourth quarter? Instead? McDonald couldn't stand letting his offense play football.
Guys like Pete and MM can't stand to win games because the offense scored points. I'm curious if it's ego. Defensive minded guy needs to be known for winning game with defense? I'd rather just be known for winning games. But oh well.

Staton on Schneider. Love dumping Geno for Sam but the Run games still sucks and that is on JS and his off season decisions once again.

The funny thing is? He offered Geno, and Geno chose to leave! He is getting credit for a guy chosing NOT to sign with him. What part of that makes sense?

The bit about trading Woolen for Devin Lloyd is interesting.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:06 pmStaton on Schneider. Love dumping Geno for Sam but the Run games still sucks and that is on JS and his off season decisions once again.

The part where he held firm in his value assessment instead of capitulating to Geno's inflated salary demands, then immediately pivoted and found an actual upgrade (and yes, that is now being evidenced outside of the Kevin O'Connell/Justin Jefferson world), gaining a round 3 pick in the process and still not committing huge cap dollars long term. Why people still hold the horror-show experiences with the Jets and Panthers against Darnold (and who but Joe Namath and Cam Newton has ever succeeded in those awful franchises?) is beyond me. Ironic that Geno himself made the case that you can develop in the league after a rough start, but many can't believe the same could be true for his successor.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:17 pmThe funny thing is? Not saying Sam can't have success, but if Geno had taken JS up on his offer? He'd be here. Hard for me to give too much credit to a guy for not signing a guy he actually tried pretty hard to sign

he's considered to be beating the market, and its not including drafting RW in the first place.Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 2:50 amNot saying Sam can't have success, but if Geno had taken JS up on his offer? Plaudits aren’t in short supply for how general manager John Schneider has made two successful transitions from a successful signal-caller. First, he ditched Russell Wilson at the right time and bet on Geno Smith’s Pro-Bowl potential, before moving on from Smith and betting Sam Darnold’s breakout 2024 campaign was no fluke.
There’s no luck about how the Seahawks keep getting things right at quarterback. Not according to one unnamed league executive who instead credits the Seahawks for ignoring how “Most of the league makes fear-based decisions. They think, ‘I have to draft a high-round quarterback or I have to have a placeholder, and the placeholder I know is better than the one I don’t,” per Mike Sando of The Athletic.
https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/seattle-se ... m-darnold/As Sando put it, “These were high-stakes moves driven by general manager John Schneider in an era when many teams paid upper-tier money for mid-tier quarterbacks, for fear of the unknown.”
The alternative would have been to stick with Wilson through his late-career decline. Or continue paying an ageing Smith. Another executive summed up those alternatives best to Sando: “The contrast is, you are seeing other teams double down on guys like Tua (Tagovailoa) and Trevor Lawrence.
You can complain about the extension but on the other hand, you could say that ownership has shown they have his back so JS doesn't need to worry about making moves to save his job, like overpaying for a QB
