They ought to be considering trading young pitching for young bats and filling the rotation from FA. Its a whole lot easier to get a pitcher to come play in this ballpark than it is a hitter.

Yes, when I was there getting my Masters of Finance in the mid 1990s I watched him pitch a few times. Or maybe that was Rik Screwball...Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 3:23 amDoes anyone remember Skubal from his Seattle U days?

Proves my point. How many of those guys were available at the deadline? Zero. How many will be available this off season? If we resign Naylor and Polance with will have one opening in the lineup and they will probably just roll with Williamson citing his PCL stats.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 4:30 pmTake your pick.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 1:48 amI have seen some version of this post about 357 times but never a mention of who these mystery young bats are.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 8:59 pm

I bet there are several on that list that won't finish out their rookie contract. Dangle a Kirby/Sloan package and I'd bet you'd be surprised at what would come available.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 10:11 pmProves my point. I don't see Bryce Miller lasting much longer in SEA and Luis Castillo probably has one more season. M's have Anderson and Cijntje joining Evans and Hancock as starting depth in 2026.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 2:11 am
Right exactly. I'm with you DT. As much as we'd all love the local boy to come home, if you can develop home grown pitching you keep it, especially this Sloan kid. Holy crap. Can you say ACE. All those guys, no room available. Somebody's gotta go. Kade potentially next year Sloan possibly in 2 maybe 3 years. Can't keep everybody. Who gets voted off M's island.
Re: Skooby mowing thru the Tribe
Yeah last season it was Castillo for Casas who put up a .580 OPS and a -0.9 WAR or Bohm who put up a .741 OPS and 1.3 WAR. Those are usually the guys that are available. Not saying it is impossible but Jerry loves his young starters and we haven't signed a FA pitcher to significant deal in 4 years.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 10:47 pmI bet there are several on that list that won't finish out their rookie contract. Re: Skooby mowing thru the Tribe
Miller was great last season and injured this season. I am sure he will be in the rotation next season until one of those guys forces there way past him which I doubt happens next season. CJ needs another year in the minors and Anderson hasn't even thrown a professional pitch.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 10:55 pmI don't see Bryce Miller lasting much longer in SEA and Luis Castillo probably has one more season.
