I feel negatively about the phrase "doing it cheaply".

M's success this year was basically a fluke. The league overall was average. This is usually is not the case. I don't understand the infatuation with Randy Arozarena.

I don't think anyone is "infatuated" with Randy.

I think people are fine with Randy given that he was a 3.9 bWAR player.

Bigger fish to fry than him in the OF.

This year needs to be a turning point for the team.

Contact is fine but quality contact and good situational hitting is what was lacking on this team especially against the Jays.
Bases loaded and striking out is one thing, but hitting into double plays is another. Even a flyball out brings in a run.

How many successful bunts to move runners over did they have?

They need to figure out why they aren't better situational hitters and maybe coaching and training are a big part of that problem.

Wouldn't it be a fluke if the league over all wasn't average. LOL

Hate to think how bad the season could've gone if Cal didn't turn into a beast.

Hopefully they don't count on a repeat and try hard to add bats at the vacant spots.

In his first season here Edwin Diaz made Dipoto's bad moves seem acceptable because the team "improved" from where Zdrunciek left it.

This year Cal probably saved his job.

I mean, most teams project out which players they assume will become superstars. I'm pretty sure they're banking on Cal progressing with the bat every year... same with Julio.

Cal probably wont hit 60 homers every year... but I'm pretty sure we should be banking on progression with contact and true power hitter capable of 40+ bombs every year.

Every team not named the Dodgers does that.

Do the M's need superstars? I don't think so. Really, really good role players? Yes.

That's key. Know your role & do your job. If Cal hits 40 every year, great. As long as the other 8 contribute in some form. I wouldn't mind the Donovan trade but the more I read into in the more I'm liking one of Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu. Apparently Abreu absolutely crushes righties but struggles with lefties so what about a trade for Wilyer Abreu then follow that up with a low impact signing of someone like a Ramon Laureano with Dom either a possible trade candidate or a possible 4th OF option. He did crush righties too so maybe keep Dom in against righties & try to swing a deal for Laureano & use Dom in a platoon role. This would be a situation I wouldn't mind using a platoon method. Both have strong arms too. Wonder what Laureano's market would be. Would he be OK with a platoon type role.
