Re: D-Trains Off season plan
I like Donovan, but it seems like there's a lot of weak moves in response to adding Skubal.
I don't get adding Skubal if it weakens the roster you're going to put around him.
I'd rather keep Kirby if it means I can add Donovan at 3B and Murakami at 1B or something like that.
Williamson really shouldn't be anywhere near this roster...

How does it weaken your roster. You are trading a #3 for and Ace. Can't have a 6 man rotation with those guys.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:28 pmI like Donovan, but it seems like there's a lot of weak moves in response to adding Skubal.

Murikami had a .105 BA on fastball over 93 mph. We will run a 40% k rate and will be luck to be Joey Gallo.

I just don't see a roster with an unknown at 1B and Williamson at 3B complimenting the pitching staff in the way we need it to.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:35 pmHow does it weaken your roster. I'd like to add more sure things and keep the staff where it is than add Skubal and inevitably be trying to figure out what we're going to do at 3B and 1B at the AS break like we do every year.
I don't have faith Williamson or Okamoto at all.

I like Abner!D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:14 pmWell Don thinks it's a dumb idea for the Tigers and you think it's a dumb idea for the Mariners so I feel pretty good about it LOLGL_Storm wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 9:53 pmI don't think 3 years of Kirby for 1 year of Skubal makes sense. I'm not opposed to trading Kirby but that seems pretty one-sided to me. It's definitely a good deal for the Tigers though.
I like Skubal, but I don't think he's prime Pedro or anything like that. He's hittable. The Mariners hit him decently this year.
He looks like a stud BP guy CC for years!
B Donavan has been in many plans for a few years,
But bringing the ACE Kirby really hurts and even 1 year hurts you: I had Miller, Anderson, + going for him and stuff but what if we could go all prospects and flip Luis for salary dump:
1. Skubal*
2. Kirby
3. Gilbert
4. Woo
5. Miller

I understand the logic but honestly, if the mariners had made it as far as the tigers with the best pitcher in baseball would you be happy with trading him for three years of Kirby rather than using him for one additional year of seriously trying for it?

BTW, MLBTV updated their trade values today.
Miller is now at $30.1M.
If Miller could be traded at this value alongside a couple good prospects. I'd do that for Skubal.
Ford and Anderson also got big bumps in their value.

Sure I get that. Too bad we don't have a ownership group that wants to win.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:42 pmI just don't see a roster with an unknown at 1B and Williamson at 3B complimenting the pitching staff in the way we need it to.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:35 pmHow does it weaken your roster. lol did they see Anderson throwing a bullpen in his back yard and he was up to 95mph or something?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:57 pmBTW, MLBTV updated their trade values today.

What's Donovan's trade value? What does a Miller for Donovan trade look like?
