Garver probably gets a job, catching is thin and his 88 ops+ isn't that off terms of backup catchers, he's got pop. Teams would take T-Mobile into account. It might even make sense for the mariners if it wasn't for Ford. I brought up before, Hollander's comment about being intent on bringing back ALL their FAs. I doubt he was just being lazy and inaccurate. Seems to me it begs the question what about Ford.
Maybe the Pirates sign him for $900K but he should prob retire if he doesn't want anymore death threats.
If his salary is in line with expectations I doubt he gets many death threats. Cooper Hummel was knocking around last season, Orioles, Astros, Rays. Four seasons of ML appearances, career 163/ .268/ .275/ .543. I think Garver gets some interest.

M's need to bring back Polanco. He does so many things for this lineup.

If the M's are intent on re-signing Suarez, then I wouldn't say no. But I wouldn't break the bank for him. And I certainly wouldn't offer him a multi-year deal with Colt Emerson, Ben Williamson, and Cole Young waiting in the wings.

They still need to acquire high leverage arms for the bullpen too, which will cost money on the open market. Or they could trade prospects for one. Trading Castillo's huge contract would free up a ton of space on the yearly budget.

They could also trade one of our starters plus a prospect package to acquire Skubal or a high leverage reliever. Logan Evans and Emerson Hancock could pitch every 5th day until Kade Anderson is ready. Some scouts say he could be ready by mid-simmer, maybe sooner.

Mitch Garver will obviously find a job somewhere. It'll be a one-year deal, probably at $2 mil or something like that.

Get past the $24.mil contract rage, he could be a decent bench piece along the lines of how the mariners used him the past season.

Any thoughts on the Locked On Mariners proposal to replace Luis Castillo with Washington Nationals left-hander Mackenzie Gore?

FanGraphs projects Mackenzie Gore with 2.9 WAR in 31 starts next year and Luis Castillo with 2.4 WAR in 31 starts. Castillo is guaranteed $45.5+ million over the next two seasons while Gore comes with two years of team control and a projected 2026 salary of $4.7 million. Next season Gore will be 27 years old and Castillo 33 years old.

The Locked On Mariners podcasters proposed a trade of Harry Ford, Logan Evans and Tai Peete for Gore and a trade of Castillo and $12 million (over two years) to San Francisco for right-handers Hayden Birdsong and Trent Harris.

Yep. He has value as a backup. No question he'll get a job.

I hate giving up Harry Ford, but it's an extremely solid proposal and I wonder if it's something the Mariners would consider. Of course, it's conditional on trading Luis Castillo, and it isn't clear that's on the agenda. But really, those two moves make a lot of sense.

Overall, I really liked the Locked On guys' plan. I thought it was really well thought out.

The Locked On Mariners offseason plan proposed the trades of four of Seattle's top 12 prospects at MLB.com:

https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/mariners/

... No. 4 Harry Ford, No. 6 Michael Arroyo, No. 8 Jurrangelo Cijntje and No. 12 Tai Peete.

With a stacked farm system, is this the offseason for the Mariners to go all in?

I'm looking at high leverage arms I'm looking at TB & Milwaukee among others. If your dealing Castillo anywhere it might as well be one of those 2 teams. I'm asking for Cleavinger or Uceta from TB & Megill or Uribe from Milwaukee. Kade is not gonna need that much time, August at the latest. So at least someone to hold down the fort for a few months.
