The big question is if he can stay on the field. He's missed a lot of time. It isn't too late for him, but there's a case to be made to trade him in the right deal.
Remember reading an item on the mariners farm system the guy saying farmelo was one untouchable guy because you don't know what you have yet. That's the thing, you cant know what the right deal is
He has missed a lot of time but does have .350 PAs and a .805 OPS. Pretty good. I wouldn't say he is untouchable though. Emerson is rated WAY higher.
I don't think .805 is "pretty Good in A/A+ He is the same age as Montes and Arroyo and they put up .959 and .934 in Everett this year. Emerson is a year younger and pout up .842

.847 in the AFL this year but yeah I would have no problem with trading him.

AFL is full of nobodies. The only other M's prospect in their top 20 that is participating is Marcelo Perez. Not sure you can take too much from stats in that League. Its just a spot for people to get some extra reps.

The didn't use to be the case. It used to be prestigious to get picked but yeah I have noticed that lately. Farmelo is the 75th ranked prospect and a first round pick so I wouldn't call him a nobody.

Here this guy who put out a Top 100 prospect list with scouting reports explains why he left Farmelo off the list.

Under no circumstances should the M's trade Jonny Farmelo. Kid has 5-Tool potential player greatness written all over him. All other M's prospects are on the board.
Curious what it is about Farmello that leads you to that conclusion. I realize he is young but a .230 average, a .778 OPS and 2 Stolen Bases in Everett is not exactly screaming 5 tool player to me.
I just see greatness in him. I know the numbers haven't materialized yet, I also here that our scouts love his potential. And I trust them. So a little bit of both. Then again, I was completely wrong about Kelenic. You can't get them all right.

This is the ongoing issue I see with Jurrangelo Cijntje, the misconception. I don't believe his switch pitching should be an aspect to his evaluation in the first place. I don't believe it was a factor in them drafting him

I am updating my plan based on the Naylor move. Given the self imposed financial constraints that the M's have placed on themselves I am abandoning the FA market and focusing on three trades.

Trade 1
Bryce Miller and Felnin Celestin for Jarren Duran (BTV Value 51.0 – 49.5 in favor of Boston)
Duran put up a 4.7 WAR and a 114 OPS + in 2025. He has 3 years of control his 2026 Salary will be $7.7 Mil
Boston wants a Proven MLB pitcher and Bryce fits that bill. I don't mind giving him up because he seems like the least durable of our young guys. I'd also like to dump Celestin while he still has value. I like him the least of our middle infiled prospects

Trade 2
Yorger Bautista, Nick Becker and Michael Morales for Yandy Diaz and Garett Cleavinger (BTV Value 15.2 - 13.8 in favor of Tampa)
Diaz put up a 3.4 WAR and a 136 OPS+ in 2025. He has 1 year year at $12 Mil with a $10 Mil club option for 27
Cleavinger put up a 1.9 WAR with a 2.35 ERA out of the pen in 2025. Heis entering his first year of arbitration with an estimated contract of $4 Mil
Jerry seems to have Tampa on speed Dial. Diaz makes so much sense for this team and I'd like to see if we can get a 2 for one with a reliever. Cleavinger has hit arbitration so hopefully the Rays may be looking to move his salary,

Trade 3
Jurrangelo Cijnite, and Ryan Sloan for Brendan Donovan (BTV Value 32.1 – 30.0 in favor of Seattle)
Donovan put up a 2.7 WAR and a 119 OPS+ in 2025. He is under control for 2 years expected arbitration number in 2026 $5.75 Mil
Donovan gives you flexibility by playing multiple positions. This will allow them to have a stable vet that they can move around the infield while they try to work in Emerson, Young, Williamson Arroyo etc. over the next couple of years. This is especially important if JP leaves following this season. I hate to give up both Sloan and Cijnite but the Cardinals are in desperate need of pitching prospects so I think this would be more likely to be accepted than a bunch of position prospects.

Perhaps not but they sure hyped it up. He has sucked as a lefty and a LHP vs. a LH hitter is the biggest advantage in baseball so yeah, I would think they would just put in a LH reliever whenever he is about to face a Lefty if he has thrown any where near his pitch limit.

I would love Duran but he used a gay slur a couple years ago so the large woke % of M's fans would probably be up in arms...
