This is what I'll always remember about Harry Ford

Dipoto drafted him because Harry blew his mind taking BP with a weight on his bat.

I mean it's hard not to watch this and think he can't be one of the best relievers in the league.

No lefty relievers throw 101 and have this kinda secondary stuff.

Go to 5 mins in the vid and look at the AB vs Soto. Pure dominance.

None of ours did. I think we just got a really sneaky back-end lefty that we have needed.

Aroldis has a plus, plus fastball.

I don't think his secondaries are amazing.

Fangraphs calls it a "Win-win move for both sides."

I have zero problems with trading Ford. It just seems like he ought to have brought a lot better player back than Ferrar. Seems like it would have been cheaper just to resign Caleb Ferguson. He has been better across the board than Ferrar over the last 3 years. M's must see something that they can fix and turn him into a high levereage arm because he certainly hasn't been one so far in his career.

He throws 98-101 with a slider that produced an OPS of like .400 last year.

It's not about fixing him as it is tweaking and him realizing his potential.

He could be one of the best relievers in baseball with some adaptations.

Like a lot of trades, we won't really know whether this was a good trade or not for at least a few years.

I'm thinking the M's saw something in Ford that suggested limited upside. They certainly didn't use him as a pinch hitter during most of the playoffs which seemed strange to me given his high OBP in the minors... I thought he might have been better than some of the other guys we ran up there in certain situations. But the coaches didn't go that direction, which kind of supports the idea that the M's weren't really high on his potential.

I think Ferrar has a lot higher upside potential then a Caleb Ferguson (who has already hit his ceiling) so Ferrar is preferable to me. If we can tap into Ferrar's potential, this trade could turn into a great deal. On the other hand, if Ford develops into a hitting machine, the fans will be calling for Dipoto's head on a platter....
