Crazy that such a highly rated farm system would have no first baseman in the entire system and have to take an old guy from Korea to filled out the roster. Once they traded Locklear. The other 1B listed on Tacoma's roster last year were Raley and Mastrabouni. In Double A they had Hunter Fitzgerald and Hogan Windish who had a .721 and a .559 OPS respectively.
M's sign Patrick Wisdom to a minor league deal

Makes sense, more than 90% of the minor leagues is just guys to play with the guys who are going to make it to the show.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 8:26 pmIt's a minor league deal. Maybe they told him to find a host family like the Thunderbird players do.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 8:17 pmI assume they have to pay these guys per diem and hotel bills in Peoria which is a massive over pay.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 8:09 pmEven as a "just in case" signing, this makes no sense whatsoever.
Re: M's sign Patrick Wisdom to a minor league deal
For a guy like Wisdom, there's an MLB service time incentive to stick around in the high minors for another year or two as basically an emergency call-up guy. He isn't likely to get another year, but every 43 days spent on a major league roster counts as 1/4 of a year for pension benefit calculation purposes. And he'll probably get paid fairly decently as well.

The most consequential move since the Boston Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:19 pmI think Olney will laugh in his face. lol

I would definitely throw Emerson into that fire before Wisdom.

I'd still put Wisdom out there before throwing another kid to the fire, but having any of Williamson, Emerson, or Wisdom as your opening day starter at 3B is a FAIL from where I'm sitting.
