Traded up with Pittsburgh to nab the top guard in the draft. Swapped next years 1st rounder for Pittsburgh's next year second rounder to make that happen.
Grabbed a running back with the second pick, a tall corner with the 3rd pick to replace Riq and a speedy receiver with the last pick to compete with Horton to replace Saheed.
Fun fact, Vega Loan is from Graham, Washington. Spurned UW to go to Penn St.

Not sure I'm a huge fan of moving draft capital in a draft where we lack picks to nab a better guard, but fun nonetheless.

I just have to imagine they'll be trading back. They pretty much have to. There's a lot of solid guards available rounds 2-4.

Seriously? Sorry but that doesn't make sense to me. They paid a lot for him, it's why they don't have draft picks. It fits their model, trade for players you're interested in and extending them. Hes been productive and wants to continue to play for them. If they aren't interested in keeping him now that makes the trade a failure in my mind. The difference now is Kubiak being gone but I'll be surprised if that really changes the situation to the extent that they are happy to let him walk
For a 4th and 5th rounder?

Sincerely doubt they're going to pay the money necessary to keep him.

He had 18 receptions in 12 games with the Hawks. He averaged 22 reception yards a game. He had 0 receiving TD's.

That is absolutely horrific production. Jakobi Meyers, who I wanted, who went for a 4th and 6th rounder to JAX, had 43 receptions with the Jags for about 60 yards a game and 3 TD's.

Glad the Hawks won the Super Bowl, but Shaheed was a failure acquisition.
Was a failure? You realize he went to the Pro Bowl. The obvious thing about Shaheed is is explosiveness, he's got that in spades and it has value. It's really what makes Walker valuable as well. Yeah, he didn't have a lot of catches but I'm not sure that means he wasn't affecting games. They got him for a reason, which was to open up the offense and the offense did I believe benefit. Look how the run game improved. I think he was used with a lot decoy situations where teams were forced to respect his speed. Here Kupp talks about it, taking the top off a defense.
.I think you saw early on there, we had a play to Jax where, you know, that safety backside from Rashid, he knows there's a post alert, anytime that Rashid's on the field, there's a chance that you could be taking the top off. I think you're going to see that it's a dangerous thing
I think they were happy with the trade, that being said, what's his value going forward. Seems to me they didn't do him any favors not throwing him the ball very much. Barnwell has him for one year at $15 MIL. Maybe he's cooled on the idea of sticking around with how he was utilized. Maybe kubiak takes him to Vegas. But if JS let's him walk for that kind of money I'd be scratching my head
Yeah, he went to the Pro Bowl as a special teamer. Almost all of his production as a receiver came with the Saints. He would be cut averaging 22 yards as a wideout per game like he did with the Hawks.

You know who was a stud special teamer this year? Carson Bruener for the Steelers. Yet, he doesn't start at linebacker. You think the Steelers are about to hand a bunch of $$ to Bruener because he tackles well as a gunner on ST's?

The Hawks didn't acquire Shaheed thinking he'd do next to nothing as a wideout. Being a good wideout is clearly where he'd be most valuable... and they're not going to pay him the $$ he's going to want b/c he returned a couple of kicks nicely.

For $15M? Yeah, he can go to Las Vegas if he's going to avg 22 yards a game. Perhaps they didn't throw him the ball much b/c he struggled to get open.

Gregg Bell with a Shaheed article just before the SB I don't know, they seem pretty happy with him.
He’s the Seahawks’ Pro Bowl punt and kickoff returner. He’s already an All-Pro before his NFL rookie contract has ended; it ends with this Super Bowl, by the way (and, yes, the Seahawks are making it a top priority to re-sign him).
“Yeah, serendipity, God’s work,” Schneider said last week. “We had been talking to the Saints — and when I say talking, like, begging — for a while. It wasn’t like a big negotiation. They were kind of like, ‘All right, this is what it’s going to take.’ We were like, All right, we’re going to do it.’” Schneider traded two third-day draft picks to the Saints to get Shaheed

The reason they would decide not to bring him back would be Tory Horton. If they were comfortable with Horton filling the roll next season.

This would be the time to trade Milroe wouldn't it? I'm gonna predict that, pick up some draft depth
“The Seahawks hedged their Darnold bet with a Round 3 selection on Milroe, who now starts down the path that Willis was on with Tennessee,” Solak wrote. “Milroe is only QB3 in Seattle behind Darnold and Drew Lock, but Milroe started above Ty Simpson – the nominal QB2 in this draft class – at Alabama in 2024.”

“Teams likely will compare their predraft grades on Milroe to the grades on this year's class, and if they can get Milroe at a discount, they could try to trade for him instead of drafting an inferior prospect,” Solak added

I'll comment on your effort. I don't think they are taking another guard with the first pick. I really don't think they are as down on Bradford as everyone else is. He's got one more year on his rookie contract. My guess is a replacement further down in the draft aimed at 2027

We'll know a lot more in 6 weeks when the FA signing period begins. If the Seahawks haven't signed Walker by then then it means he is looking for the best offer and there is no way that John will match what teams like the Jets and Titans can offer him.

Sign Tyler Linderbaum & move Olu or Sundell over to Guard. Bradford can be backup. You don't pass up an opportunity to sign the best center in the league outside of Humphrey. If your only signing 1 FA make it Linderbaum. That way you can either trade back for more picks or trade for another premium position like CB or pass rusher.

I always love articles like this. What is the GM of the team going to say when asked about him just before a Super Bowl?

"Yeah, 22 yards a game and 0 TD's isn't ideal. We bugged the Saints about him and we haven't quite gotten what we wanted out of him at wideout."

I don't buy for 2 seconds that re-signing Shaheed is a "top priority."

He's a kick returner who didn't hold water as the 3rd wideout. Would be ridiculous to pay him when Darnold didn't connect with him.

I'll bet you $100 they don't re-sign Shaheed.
