You don't have to have gaudy stats to 'take the top off opposing defenses'. You simply have to have the threat of doing that, and Shaheed does that 100%. Sam threw deeps balls quite a bit to him. Did they always connect? No, but the threat of that opens everything else up.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 11:04 pmSure, I agree there... wouldn't put that solely on Shaheed... I just don't think he helped in they way they hoped he would taking the top off opposing defenses. I am actually not that upset seeing Kubiak go. I thought there was a lot more left in the tank of the offense than they got out of it...Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 10:06 pmSorry, I can see how you would read that and think I was saying that. I guess that was poorly contexted by me, but as a Mariner fan? I think most of us agree that when teams don't take a run at it? They won't win it. This was the Hawks taking a run at it, and I personally am not worried about the two draft picks. That said, if they don't resign him? The move has less value.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:22 pmWhen did I cry about the Hawks not doing enough to win titles?
I think there was more going on in the passing game than just adding Shaheed that might have lead to some reduced numbers. But, you watched this offense against who besides the Patriots in the Super Bowl and thought we regressed? Sure as shit wasn't the two Rams games. This team intentionally didn't put games at risk because they didn't have to. I can't remember anyone since the Rams beat us that had me thinking we were going to lose....except the other two Rams games. And we won both of those games and Sam had pretty damn good days in both!Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:22 pmI was more than happy that they made a trade for a wideout... in fact, had it as my no. 1 goal of the trade deadline when many told me they didn't think adding a wideout was important. I didn't have him in mind and wasn't a big fan of him being the trade target. The posts are all there.
I am glad that Shaheed made some nice plays on special teams. However, the Hawks passing game regressed pretty heavily after they acquired Shaheed. Darnold threw for 9 TD's and 9 picks in the 9 regular season games Shaheed played. He threw for 16 TD's and 5 picks in the 8 games prior. Shaheed had just 3 total receptions and 4 carries in the playoffs. Darnold just didn't connect with the guy... to me, that's a failure regardless of whether the Hawks won the SB or not. Who knows, maybe the KR TD wouldn't have been necessary if the Hawks passing game was a in a better spot?
Regardless, I can't justify paying Shaheed what he's apparently "worth" on the open market when he and his QB struggled mightily together at the position he needs to have more impact.
I want the Hawks pass game to take the next step. To me that's the clearest place this team can evolve. Glad we won the SB, but that was sort of in spite of what the team doing through the air. Add another weapon to take heat off JSN? Yes, please.
But yes, the games against the Niners were rough on the offense. Even the 41 point win, they had sub-300 yards of total offense, Darnold only throwing for 124 yards. 26-0 win over the Vikings... Darnold had just 128 yards passing. The SB was marred by stalled drives. NE did not respect our ability to throw a football deep at all... a better passing O beats the Pats by 40. The Rams games were nice, but it was also noted that they were one of the worst defenses in football down the stretch.
Often times, the defense was our best offense... giving us short fields. My point is why not try to evolve the pass game so we're a juggernaut without a weakness? Not that it would happen, but Jefferson more or less requested a trade today... saying he wants to play with a QB he feels comfortable with.![]()

Who knows how much he is going to get paid, and frankly? Who cares. They just performed a master class in cap spending with Geno, DK and Lockett still on the books!Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 6:16 pm
It would be ridiculous to spend $15M a year on him.
It was a bad acquisition given his lack of production at wideout.
I am 100% sure they did not trade for him expecting that he'd average 1.5 receptions and 22 yards receiving per game with 0 TD's.
So, he made a huge impact as a Kick Returner, and once again, it's a bad move because he is behind the best WR in the league, Cooper Kupp, AJ Barner and even the backs in the pecking order at WR? I don't think they even brought him in for his offense as much as his special teams. Listen to Harbaugh talk about the opening kickoff return for a TD against the Niners.
Again, we lose to the Fucking Rams in the regular season without him. In that game he had one fucking target. But? A 31 yard run on the game tieing drive and scored the punt return TD to cut the lead to one score. Sorry. Good trade simply because of that.
Complaining about that move is like complaining because some prospect that is in the MLB Top 100 was included in a trade for an actual MLB ready player. I don't understand it. It didn't cripple the draft, not in any way shape or form. But? It got us HFA in the playoffs, and he set the ton in our first playoff game. Fucking good trade.

This! Again, JSN was open all year long. Some of that can be attributed to Shaheed. A run first team with a deep threat. Could Horton do that? Sure, if he ever puts on a uniform and actually takes the field. I'm not holding my breath for that. That dude reminds me of Paul Richardson.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 6:52 pm

I'm simply saying the move didn't work out given expectations I'm sure they had for him at wideout. Me saying it didn't work out is not "complaining." I understand the move, thought the draft capital was appropriate, but do not see the production to call it a success.
Great they won the SB, and glad he had some nice kick returns that helped... but a better wideout could have made some of those KR's not necessary. A better passing offense could have led to a more dominant team. Shaheed didn't help there and his primary responsibility is being a wideout.

All conjecture... I'd love some evidence of Shaheed's impact as a wideout leading to more success for JSN... b/c his numbers went down after the Shaheed trade. I won't put that on Shaheed... but saying Shaheed opened up more opportunities for JSN is not backed up statistically.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 6:56 pmThis! Glad the Hawks won the Super Bowl, but Shaheed was a failure acquisition.

Fact #1. The team lost one game with Shaheed on the roster.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 7:03 pm

Fact #2. When the passing game needed to be explosive? It was.
So, let's focus on the stats. Here's a stat for you. The Seahawks acquired Shaheed on November 4th. After that? Thanks to a long FG miss that was mostly set up by the luckiest punt bounce I've ever seen? The Seahawks lost ONE FUCKING GAME. Oh, and everyone's favorite thin man never stepped on the field again, as far as I can recall. I'd trade Horton before I didn't resign Shaheed!
GREAT TRADE.

Why are we arguing over re-signing a core member of the team on a thread about a Mock Draft?

And they fired their STs coach mid season. That was unheard of for a team in their positionCaptain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 4:20 pmRams were 1st in points scored and 17th in points allowed. I think they will focus on defense.
