I think that's what he's talking about, the hype. You haven't made it to the majors and the hof wants your bat? lol
Mitch Haniger 2.0?
I was kinda thinking that, but I don't think haniger took this long. I don't know a thing about Davis other than he has suffered some injuries.
That was a joke but I made the comparison because they both dealt with a lot of injuries and were age 26 with the Mariners however Brennen Davis was rated a lot higher as a prospect (peaked at #16 overall)

Yeah, more thinking like late blooming. Looking at haniger, he wasn't really that bad. He wasn't highly touted and he wasn't a failure, more AAAA.

So, does Woo look close go 100% or is he still feeling the effects of whatever the injury he had was?

I'd be shopping Arozarena at this point..

I wouldn't bet $100 that he'd have better numbers this season at 31 years old than any of:

Robles
Raley
Davis
Julio
Canzone

There's only so many at bats to go around, and they could still get a decent return for Randy.

He had a .679 OPS in the second half. At some point you're just better off moving on from some guys.

I'd be seeing what offers we could get. Even just for a big bullpen arm? Pretty tempting.
Come on, Davis is a pipe dream. I don't have a problem at all with the at bats presently. What I see is finally some legitimate depth. That's what I feel has always killed dipoto's rosters in the past, lack of depth. Tired of always hearing about bad luck injuries when it's actually a lack of depth.

Actually the guy you are leaving out is Donovan. If they want both Young and Emerson on the roster Donovan could get pressed for at bats. And his at bats would have to come in the outfield. But still I'm hanging on to Arozarena's right handed bat. I'm not giving up any depth

And really I'm not concerned about the bullpen. There was really only a couple of spots at issue and it looks like they could need to make room for Hancock. There's going to be a crunch there too because of a lack of players with options.

Of course I really don't have a problem with the roster, other than how they handled backup catcher. But that's getting kind of nitpicky. Let's get spring training out of the way and get going
I don't think his problem has been lack of depth. His problem has been spending his money on 5 bums per season for millions and then wasting at bats on them when they're obviously cooked.

As you point out, we have great depth. Davis was like 7th on the depth chart, probably behind even Donovan and Canzone.

But, Victor Robles was a pipe dream. Haniger was a pipe dream we got along with Jean Segura. So what? Sometimes guys play themselves into a role.

I'm not going to trade from the players that we can have for the next 6 years.

Arozarena is an obvious trade piece imo. Could get a piece we actually need for him.

Anyone want to bet he'll have the second best OPS in our outfield? I sure won't.

Yeah, Arozarena had a great first half and a crappy second. The second half fade corresponding with being put in the lead-off spot. This season they plan to hit him lower in the lineup with Donovan hitting lead-off. We shall see, personally I don't necessarily see the latter part of one season as a continuation into the next. And I don't see how trading him for a reliever improves the lineup. He hit a ball against the padres the other day with a 115 mph exit velocity, hopefully he's back to being a productive hitter. I wouldn't GM like that, selling low on a guy

I wouldn't consider it selling low.

His salary ensures we'll find out one way or another whether he's hit the wall.

I think Robles/Julio/Raley/Donovan/Canzone++ mean we wouldnt miss Randy at all personally.

Trade him for a third baseman. Trade him for a lock down reliever. A prospect. Doesn't really matter. The problem with Randy is he'll be given at bats regardless of whether his .679 OPS in the second half is what we can expect or not. They'll squeeze that turnip like they always do.

I don't see how keeping him improves the lineup.
