Have to cut ties with these lunatics.

Greatest allies... what a crock of shit.
I would think the last thing in the world Trump wants to do is destroy Pars Island. Do that and oil prices go through the roof, who knows the effects it would have on the economy. Prices went up 4% with the attack on Qatar. Seems to me trump has gotten himself into a strange situation. It's like building a fire in a gunpowder factory. You start a war but at the same time you have to ensure oil flow and infrastructure. It's crazy, the effect of just small disruptions in oil production. His speel has been improving the economy and now he's gambling destroying it, and with the midterms coming up.

And the deal is the Iranians understand this. What is the motivation for them to as Donald puts it, cry uncle? It's in their best interest to prolong the war, not end it. The longer this goes on the worse it is for the republicans. And with no clear explanation why it was undertaken in the first place. I don't think it's clear who's holding the cards at this point. It does not seem to have been well thought out

The bitter irony if you are Trump - a man who has spent his entire life as a celebrity, a man who gives me the impression he really really wants/needs to be liked and admired, then winning the Presidency in a landslide, gaining huge approval ratings, only to have the rug yanked out from under him as he is forced to appease Israel - a wildly unpopular move - and while appeasing them and ramping up a nonsensical war - watching his popularity fall - while doing something he doesn't want to do in the first place. It's really a marvel to watch in real time. He's not the first - I don't think Bush wanted Iraq - he was talked into it by the Devil himself, Dick Cheney. It's wild to watch these men having these wars thrust upon them to carry out - while every single metric tells us they do no want to be doing this.

Tells just how powerful thier controlling entity is, and we should be fucking terrified of this - but we should also marvel at how it is all comning to light now - it's not a secret anymore - the veil has been lifted and we're acknowledging the puppet show - now the question is can we overcome it before it is too late and we are too far gone? We are standing at the edge of the cliff it feels like right now.

The Saudis supposedly urged him on as well.

What compounds things is Trump complete lack of interest in diplomacy. Bush at least understood the importance of alliances. Telling the Brit's to fuck off because you have already won the war isn't very smart. Trump is demanding the cooperation of NATO when six months ago he was threatening to invade a NATO partner. That is not the way to go about things. Wars are about alliances. If it's going to be America first then stay out of wars. If you want to go to war then make the effort to build alliances. This combination Trump's come up with of going it alone as well as starting wars seems pretty shaky to me

No, it seems obvious Trump didnt want it to happen.

But Israel's goal is an all out war, so they're dragging it along however they can.

It's like Trump went to war with a whiny toddler as his ally.

And the Saudis as I pointed out, it's an interesting combination of pressure. And it makes sense that it was applied. I think it gets overlooked that Iranians are not Arabs, there's a lot of hostility between the two. The Middle East like the Balkins is a complicated mess. Trump has gotten into a meat grinder between those competing regional interests without I doubt having much understanding of the situation, the history.

It's just strange how it continues to happen. Presidents continuing to get involved in these regions, SE Asia, the Middle East, Afghanistan. Classic quagmires they can't seem to resist

War has to be the ultimate distraction.
