OT: NBA Returning to Seattle?

Post by auroraave » Thu Mar 26, 2026 1:28 pm

Well the NBA (aka F the NBA) voted to explore bringing a team back to Seattle. Anyone give a shit about the NBA anymore?
I hate that league with the heat of a thousand suns, and no, they ain't Phoenix Suns!
But why?

The fucking over of Seattle - led by a commissioner who gave OKC the playbook on how to, and the approval to, pry the beloved Sonics from Seattle.
The corruption - the point shaving, the blatant rigging of games and series.
How hilariously BAD the game is now.
I cannot wait for the City to deem "Supersonics" controversial and demand a 'rebrand' into some hideous new name, like the starfish, the carbon neutral footprint, The Diversity (also a great name fior an WNBA franchise!), the Gender Neutrals, The Free Needles, The Homeless. Oh, how Seattle would fuck this up.

Nah - f the NBA - take your franchises, crappy games, sloganeering, corruption, rigging, fucking over of the fanbase, and shove it. Not that I have a strong opinion about it or anything.

Thoughts?

I've never watched more than a few minutes of an NBA game. And that was years ago. Just doesn't interest me. I really have little understanding of the game, but what really turns me off is that you can't touch anyone without getting a foul. A guy drives to the net, you attempt to block him or reach for the ball, and if you make contact you get called for a foul.

On that note, your post pretty much sums it up. :D

Fuck that. Stole the franchise because Stern is a dickwad, Schultz is an asshole and Bennett is a snake. They they wait this long and say "OK, now we are going to think about it."? Fuck off. Keep that shitty product out of this State.

I tried to make it though a Jazz game here in Salt Lake two years ago- It was abysmal, no energy, no defense, game stops every 45 seconds, was more like a rap concert with huge screens blasting all around- We left after the first quarter -

I wrote a longer post about this several years ago. In my opinion the NBA under Stern severely damaged their own product during the 90s by elevating individuals above teams. They sold out to the marketability of one player over the integrity of the game.

You forgot to mention that they palm the ball and travel 5-6 steps on every possession.

Remember when that POS died and the rest of the NBA and fans saluted him as some great commissioner. And how about that creature Silver. That freak could play an alien villain in a sci fi movie and wouldn't need an ounce of make up.
