Well, a 'team' we'll call them the Rusty Needles, decides the arena isn't 'up to standards', because we know goddam well that's what's next.
Hmmm, so the City will have to kick in money. It's not gonna be cheap, let's say $800 million (before the predictable cost overruns "no one saw coming" lol) But wait, let's back up a minute. The City is broke - the state is a mess, hence the new grift, er, 'income tax', which means your money will be going to fund a new arena or 'rebuild' of the current arena.
Instead of improvements to the City, your new tax money will be grifted away into a new arena! Remember - Steve Hanson was trying to build one privately - aka NOT at tax payer expense.
Here's a fun little history-slash-economic lesson for you! Remember covid? Remember the "Summer off Chazz"? Remember the CIty allowing rioting and destruction and murder? Well, that stupidity lead to a massive exodux of businesses - and all those jobs and taxes are GONE. They aren't getting replaced, which means - wait for it - ALL that tax revenue is GONE. Oh, wait, there's more!!! The lawsuits from all that chaos and destruction and death - all that money has to come from somewhere. Seattle lost all those lawsuits.
Now you get a state income tax to offset staggering ineptness and corruption and greed. What does all this mean? You'll get a new "gas tax" or some shit to pay for the new arena - because, you know, your taxes and gas prices aren't high enough - thanks to corruption, greed and ineptness. YAY!
The best part - all of the problems the City has, like homelessness, drugs, corporate exodus - STILL NOT RESOLVED!
But yeah, bring on that NBA!
Wash, rinse, repeat.
