If John & Jerry got hit by a Greyhound bus tomorrow I would not be the least bit sad. Neither one has any business being in this business, period. Our pussy ass media don't got the balls to call these fuckers out on their bullshit. Can hire John Schneider to be our baseball GM too at least he can do a better job then Dipshit.

I'd rather they stop treating everyone like they're platoon players, yes.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 8:33 amYou would rather Canzone gets the at bats against lefties. Don't platoon it, I'm not sure what we are gaining but OK
They've only given Canzone 109 MLB plate appearances against lefties in his career. Despite a solid minor league track record, they auto-platooned him. You're the champion for "SSS", so there's one for you.
Canzone has a .607 OPS in those plate appearances against lefties. Cole Young has a .613 overall OPS in his 268 career plate appearances and he's just handed a role.
Refsnyder will probably have an OPS below .607 this season anyways.
In general, they need to stop acquiring players because they look like they could fit a platoon. Bunch of dumb losers.
Still can't believe this org employs Dave Cameron's pansy ass.

Canzones is an aggressive swinger that's had issues with swinging out of the zone, he's particularly struggled at it against left handed pitching, that's just a fact. Sure as he matures he could get better at it. If his defense warranted starting him in the outfield then play him everyday. That's the situation with Young. It's having a defensive position that gets him everyday at bats. For the life of me I don't see the reason not to platoon DH, there's no defensive position involved.

This IS the reason. It literally could not be more obvious.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 3:34 pmCanzones is an aggressive swinger that's had issues with swinging out of the zone, he's particularly struggled at it against left handed pitching, that's just a fact. That was about pinch hitting canzones with Bliss. That's a decision between those two bats. What I'm talking about is refsnyder and Canzone. If the opposition is starting a leftie then I'm starting refsnyder as my dh. Everything after that are pinch hitting decisionsbpj wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 3:35 pmThis IS the reason. They're pinch hitting decisions you wouldn't/shouldn't have to make.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 3:48 pmThat was about pinch hitting canzones with Bliss. Especially to waste your bench/pinch hitters on the DH spot. Sheer stupidity.

Then don't pinch hit for the DH, but I don't see why one should feel obligated to start a guy at DH when there's someone else available that gives you a better platoon advantage. Why are you so dead set against platoon advantages?

Because this is the result.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:38 pmThen don't pinch hit for the DH, but I don't see why one should feel obligated to start a guy at DH when there's someone else available that gives you a better platoon advantage. The Mariners had a .572 OPS last season in their 167 pinch hitting appearances. Their entire approach is just retard-level.
167 plate appearances is like 1/4 of a full time players at bats they're just flushing down the drain.

What result? Using Bliss? Don't use Bliss. Against a lefty start refsnyder, you have at least one guaranteed at bat with a platoon advantage, probably more. Then when they bring in a righty you go to Canzone. At worst it's where you would be if you started Canzone to begin with but you have avoided a couple of at bats at least where he didn't have the platoon advantagebpj wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:42 pmBecause this is the result.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2026 4:38 pmThen don't pinch hit for the DH, but I don't see why one should feel obligated to start a guy at DH when there's someone else available that gives you a better platoon advantage. Terms of the bench, it's what it's for isn't it? A late inning base stealing threat, a defensive replacement, a right handed bat. Refsnyder doesn't detract from the bench, in my mind he helps round it out. I just don't see the reason not to take advantage of platoon advantages
