Crazy they would wait 20 years to make a killing. Talk about long term planning. lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 3:44 pmAnd the league is going to make a killing bringing back the sonics, as if it was planned

That's been my point. This is going to be a lot bigger impact than if they had ran another Sonics team right out three years after the move to OKC. I very well could be misreading it. But now you have the anticipation, the nostalgia. It will be interesting the comparison to Vegas. There's certainly going to be money to be made in Vegas.i am curious the two marketing approachesD-train wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2026 6:39 pmCrazy they would wait 20 years to make a killing. The new NBA team (I will never call them the Sonics) will be just like Kraken. Short term nostalgia, excitement anticipation then just an anti climatic buzz kill.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2026 6:52 pmThat's been my point. Took the Sonics games off the radio station they had been on for 40 years.
Demanded a new stadium - on land that wasn't even available.
Fired off Lenny Wilkins and all staff memebers with Sonics ties.
Stopped promoting games.
Press gaga on players who because they didn't want to go to OKC.
Traded away all the good players.
Orchestrated the worst team in franchise history.
HIted PJ Carlisomo - worst hire in franchise history... by design.
All of this was done to drive fans away - so they could say 'look they don't support the team' They destroyed the franchise - while complaining the fans didn't support what they were doing. I've seen some shitty things in sports - but this may be the worst. Iconic franchise destroyed because the commissioner had a grudge against a city that would not finance a new arena - 8 years after rebuilding the current one.
All orchestrated by the greatest scumbag in sports - David Stern.
And this before we get into how bad the games are and how corrupted the league is. What possible benefit could this brinbg to the great fans of Seattle - the ones they already fucked over as hard as they possibly could. How proposterously expensive will the games be? This is like losing your girlfriend to a gangbang that goes viral and then someone asking if you want her back. Hell. Fucking. No.
NBA in Seattle? Are you fucking kidding me? Kinda funny how the league absolutely fucks seattle fans over, then comes slinking back to try and take more money from you. The fucking audacity.

And on top of all that we're probably going to have the Kraken group running things with the NBA equivalent of Ron Francis in charge of personnel decisions and a B league coach making his "NBA" debut while the Thunder win some more championships.

Not even fun to watch.
Sad, so much hype.
Re: OT: NBA Returning to Seattle?
I lived in Seattle on 5 occasions. 1987-1988 in the U distract at Lander Hall dorm when I attended UW. Then in a nice new place on 7th right under I 5 Then in a shithole apartment a couple miles north in the Maple leaf neighborhood on 75th and Roosevelt. Then in Lake City when I had my $6.20 an hour bank teller job for $6.20 and hour. The last time was when I bought a condo across from Gas works park. Great view of Lake union but I hated it because Fremont and Wallingford. Probably more good good looking woman in a bathroom of a bar in Alabama than that entire 10 square mile area.

So you weren't into older (divorced) Karens and clip-haired fatties with their hair dyed pink and green?
