Crazy how few wins Mariner starting pitchers have.
Gilbert only has 48 wins in his over 5 year career pitching well for good teams. Steve Carlton had 27 in one season for the 59 win 1972 Cardinals.

Is the Vedder Cup up for grabs again? What an amazing trophy win for us last season. Hope we can defend it successfully this time around.
If Rory can repeat we can too!!!

There's Wisdom in this selection.

Such Wisdom.jpg
~
He's mostly a first baseman and DH. He can do spot duty in RF or LF. He'll probably get some play at 3B; he played 58 games at third in Korea last year with a .926 fielding %.

Refsnyder is listed as an OF, 2B, 1B. He last played 1B in 2020 (4 games, starting 2). 2B? A joke. He played 2B in 2017 and not since.

They both bat RH. Ref just turned 35. Wis turns 35 in August.

Refsnyder has a little better bat on ball skills, and lower strikeouts. Wisdom has more power, better OPS, but K's more. We'll see.
Wisdom's key number is his .171 BA and .237 OBP the last time he played MLB. I would not be surprised if he didn't get a single PA before being sent down again when Ref gets back this weekend.

Maybe we'll get to see Ty France @ Petco Field.
Michael King has walked 8 in his 3 starts, one quality start. Bryan Woo, 3 starts, 4 BB's, 2 QS.
Let's go down to San Diego and take all 3. M's are 8-9 now so getting to 11-9 would be solid.
Padres are 10-6 thus far and didn't play today.

Will be interested to see how we hit vs a good starter. Our offense vs. the Astros is close to meaningless.

Gonna be a much harder series. Great team right now. Lethal bullpen. They have the lead in the 9th goodnight. Great pitching and offense. Hopefully we can stay on this high.

People refer to Patrick Wisdom being a total hacker and AAAA guy which he is but interesting comparison to Colt Emerson who Jerry said will be up soon making a significant impact. .264 BA .371 OBP. Colt .265 BA .321 OBP. Love Colt but why would Jerry put that pressure on him?

Yeah this isn't going to be pretty. Another offensive performance to suck the blood out of M's fans...back to reality..
