This guy says JS is trying to work a trade for a top Edge guy...

Can't imagine what he'd have to give up..
I'd call it due diligence, JS has commented he wants in on any possible deal

We were discussing JSs draft philosophy awhile ago. I commented on him once claiming he drafted to his team, not the league. I see he just made a similar comment on the radio the other day. He's not concerned with where a player is supposed to be drafted

That being said, seems like he needs to try and determine where he thinks a player will go to calculate where they plan to take them
Schneider also emphasized that they view draft prospects through the lens of who’s the best available player for the Seahawks – not necessarily who’s the best available from a league-wide perspective.

“It usually ends up being a combination of the two, really,” Schneider said. “And we grade for our team. We don’t grade for the National Football League. So we just say, OK, this is our best player for our team.

“Now, there times where, yeah, we can’t pass up a player,” he added. “We think (he’s) going to get drafted higher, and here he comes, and we’ve gotta take him. You’re just taking the best player.

“But as we build this thing, we’re always building it for our team and not the league, and not where the player should go.”

I heard him say that. What GM would draft based on the league instead of his team??? JS has been awesome but what a silly statement. So he doesn't make his picks based on Mel Kiper Jr.'s analysis. Well that's good. I swear what people will say to appear smart. Jerry lives to do that.

So if JS feels Treydan Stukes fills a need for this team he could pick him in the second round even though the rest of the league might consider him a third round pick

Drafting a 25 yo for need is the height of stupidity. If there was an award for worst exec of the year that move would lock it up.

You have to consider what the rest of the league thinks because otherwise you unnecessarily waste a 2nd round pick on a guy you can get in the third round.

He has said he balances BPA and Need. Now that makes sense. If you have two guys and one is a TE and one is an Edge and you rate the TE just marginally better then taking the edge is very reasonable.

Louis Riddick on Treydan Stukes

He might be flying under the radar for the average football-viewing fan, but NFL teams know Stukes' upside. He has good size and exceptional functional explosiveness. Stukes ran a 4.33-second 40 and posted a 38-inch vertical jump at the combine.

Stukes can play nickel, dime, free safety or strong safety because he is smart, instinctive and an alpha competitor who loves to hit. Additionally, he is a good blitzer. He is equally skilled as a man or zone defender, and he has exceptional range and ball skills as a deep-field safety. Stukes has seven career picks, including four last season. There is nothing not to like about Stukes ... nothing at all.
