I think they'll probably trade Kirby in the offseason and maybe they pay down some of Castillo's contract for someone to take him.
Definitely will not be trading Kirby in the off season. If they did who would they trade him for????
He'll have 2 years of control left so you can get quite a lot for him.
Sorry, I just hate suggesting trading guys with no idea of who or even what we are trading him for. Typically when you sell a good MLB player it is for prospects. Is that what you are suggesting??? If not what MLB player are we trading him for?? What team are we trading him to???

And please don't say we are trading him for a big bat. lol

I thought you were getting at, how often does a team in a WS window trade off a top of the rotation starter?

I suppose the question is... is he a top of the rotation starter anymore? And if not, do you entertain a trade like you should have done with Castillo this off season?

His command has been horrible. A trend that started the second half of last year. Fastball velo was down in the 93-95 range to start the year... seems like he's trying to pick it up as his 4-seamer is hitting 97, but he can't land it. Splitter is more of a glorified knuckle ball... it doesn't dive at the knees half the time... flutters too much cause it doesn't have the right spin... he's also not getting K's with the fastball which used to be his bread and butter.

I don't know if you trade him for prospects. But you could possibly trade him to a team like Baltimore in a bat for pitching swap. They need pitching... the M's need a 3B and a righty at that. Perhaps when Jordan Westburg comes back from his injury... there's a discussion there.

Kirby has a 2.97 ERA 1.0 WAR and a 1.04 WHIP. On pace for a 6 WAR season. Westberg is about as exciting a soggy piece of wonder bread. 5 WAR in his entire 3 year career. That would be the worst trade of Jerry's career and that is saying a lot.

I'm predicting, not suggesting. It's too soon to have an idea what they might trade him for.

My God check the FA 3Bs for this coming off season. Hopefully Donovan stops being so damn brittle.
Third Base: Bo Bichette (opt-out), Eugenio Suárez, Alec Bohm, Anthony Rendon, Edmundo Sosa, Yoán Moncada, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Ramón Urías (mutual option)

Why on earth would they trade him?

He's an elite pitcher showing 0 signs of slowing down.

Should be doing everything in their power to extend him.

That's my thought process.

Westburg is compelling because the 3B market is so bad, he's been solid when healthy, young, etc... I'd move Donovan to more of a McLemore role for the M's... have him rotate around the diamond.

I'd do a Gilbert for Westburg trade straight up. Baltimore's pitching staff is utter trash. Their top pitching prospect has an ERA near 5.50 the last 2 years across AA and AAA and they've only got 2 in their top 10.
