A 769 Ops in the PCL is terrible. Tyler Locklear had well over a 900 Ops and look what he did when he got to the big leagues. Cole Young had a 850 Ops in the PCL and came up and put up a 600 Ops in the big leagues. The average Ops in the PCL is 840Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 2:45 pmSo now, we are so desperate, that a "not bad" OPS in AAA means get him up to the Bigs? Good thing we paid the guy enough money to never be even above average at his craft and still be rich.Sports Hernia wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 2:20 amSo he’ll fit right in. At least it would be a different guy sucking instead of the usual clowns.
Batting Average is a misleading outdated stat. Cal had a low BA last year, did he suck?
Emerson has a .769 OPS. Not great, no bad either. OPS is a much better stat than BA.

Mike Trout is back this season. Kinda blows my mind it's because he cut back on the junk food
Trout hired a nutritionist and focused on eating less junk food on the couch before he goes to sleep, and along the way, his weight dropped to 230 pounds, which is about eight to 10 pounds less than in previous seasons. He noticed an immediate difference late in the winter with how his legs and knees felt. As spring training games started, Trout had a goal to get back to a sprint speed of 30 feet per second -- a target he hit a couple of times

So Dombrowski offered Cora the Phillies job like the day after the Red Sox fired him. That seems pretty nuts
"I talked to Alex. We never got down to the nuts and bolts of things. He called me Saturday night as a friend. I guess he calls me one of his mentors and we talked because he never had been through (getting fired) before," Dombrowski said. "... I talked to him on Sunday morning. We talked about potentially taking the job. I had told him I had really come to the conclusion that if he took it, I was going to make a change. I thought he might take it.

Blows my mind that a Pro athlete would even consider eating junk food on the couch as the last thing he does every day. I wouldn't even do that BEFORE my health kick.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 3:33 pmMike Trout is back this season. Kinda blows my mind it's because he cut back on the junk food

Does it speak to the entire organization? The mariners have staff monitoring diet. You're looking for any little edge. And Trout is sitting around getting fat on his couch? Crazy
“We want to optimize the foods and fluids that I select to build out the menu to enhance recovery,” Mariners dietitian Edie Shreckengast said. “If they put time in on their plate, they're going to see dividends in their performance."
Shreckengast coordinates all player meals at home and on the road, amounting to 1,100 to 1,300 meals per week.
"We're at that part of the season where 1% might give you the edge and might prevent that injury that could happen," Shreckengast said.

Perhaps I am wired differently. Hitting 450 foot bombs in Yankees stadium would give me more pleasure than gorging on Beer nuts, Doritos and Big Macs on my couch.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 9:09 pmHe’s set for life, plays for the low effort Angels, and lives on the Ocean in Dana Point.D-train wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 8:03 pmBlows my mind that a Pro athlete would even consider eating junk food on the couch as the last thing he does every day.
