For me, football is really about preparation. What sort of details can make a difference winning a road game. I commented before that MM reminds me of Don James. James was a master of preparation.
That's awesome.

You might get a kick out of this. James Thursday meetings with his teams. He held them a day earlier than the usual. His notes are available at the UW.
The Don James notebooks: Handwritten speeches reveal heart, intensity of Washington legend
James on kicking ass:

Stanford 1977: “I would like to turn this game into a classic. A classic shit kicking.”

Utah 1979: “Shortage of class. Loud mouthed. Filthy talk … Go out and enjoy football — laugh at their mouths — kick their asses all over the field.”

Pacific 1981: “Get yourself ready to show Pacific that we aren’t W.S.U. Kick their ass!”

Washington State 1985: “Hit the Cougars ass — we don’t point fingers, talk, demean, we play! They’ve called us arrogant? Tuff maybe but not arrogant! … Walden: This is a man that made 100 phone calls to hurt us in ’84. Make him pay for trying to discredit our team.”

Cal 1990: “I’ve never in my coaching career read so many bullshit comments. They need a lesson in class and humility.”

Who remembers THE WHAMMY IN MIAMI? Wasn't James, 'ywas Lambright who had been his DC for years. One of the most epic UW games. IYKYK.

Drove from Columbus, OH to Pasadena the final days of 1991 solo for the 1992 natty Rose Bowl. Went out on the town New Years Eve to Whiskey and Go Go made famous by Guns and Roses. We lost our marbles when Napoleon took the opening KO past mid field. Great Glory.

Was in a bar, Cebu 2001. I was going to a lot of bars back then but I wasn't talking to anybody. I just like sitting in bars. That night for some reason I got in a conversation with the guy next to me. Turns out he's a big Sooners fan, like a Michael. We relived the Orange Bowl, with him bringing it back in detail. That was a lot of fun. A fond bar memory

Remember when the Sooner Schooner tipped over during the halftime show. The ultimate bad omen.

No way UW didn't deserve a piece of the NC that year.

I was also at that game DT. My father bought us Rose Bowl tickets and is a memory I'll never forget.

Wow awesome! I also remember getting the USA Today out of the paper box the next morning and seeing that the idiot writers had voted for Miami to be number one so we had to share it with those Jokers
