OT Mandela Effect

Post by bpj » Sun May 31, 2026 7:10 am

Just had my mind blown. One of my favorite songs when I was in high school was this song, "What if God was one of us.. just a stranger on the bus.."

I vividly remember who sang it, and even her face close up as she sang it in the video.

I heard it playing tonight and wondered who the bad remake was by.

Tried looking up my old favorite.. Never Existed.

Who do you guys remember singing that song?

Lovely song.

I've never asked your age Jason but if you are 45 to 49 years old then you're not Mandela affected - Joan Osborne sung it, but I thought it was much later than that to be fair. Big hit over here as well.

There were cover versions by Prince and Outta Control, a Canadian band.

I wish that was true.

But I remember the Berenstein Bears.

I rented Kazaam and Shazam at the same time to see which was better.

I remember Alanis Morisette singing One of Us. I've never heard this Joan Osborne version before yesterday. It's very boring compared to how Alanis sang it.

The monopoly guy had a monocle..

Maybe music gets an exemption from Mandela effect?

Morrisette did do a version so it seems.

Loads of people would have done versions of contemporary music without ever releasing them. Especially over there with variety shows like Carson, Letterman and SNL, maybe?

And Monopoly guy, that's definitely my Mandela one.

Mandela Effect is how reality works. We all think the sky has been blue forever but it might've been red yesterday. Reality can shift. If you're not thinking in terms of supernatural, then you're not really thinking.

I'm definitely Mandela effected. Australia used to be further south.. The scarecrow didn't have a gun. Berenstein Bears for sure. "If you build it, they will come"

A lot of people don't understand it. They think because they remember the original how it has supposedly always been that they're disproving the Mandela effect. No, that's the whole point. It ripples through time. There is no point in time where a change occurred.
