Everyone's going to say that the piggybacking really worked out well today, but I guarantee you Miller wasn't happy at all about being removed at just 71 pitches and not getting a win that he deserved. The only good that came out of it is that Castillo's trade value went up.
That is a great thing. I think this could work out well. Castillo is multitudes better than guys in the pen outside of Ferrer, Brash, Munoz, types. So getting rid of that money with Anderson nipping at the heals is huge.
The tandem has looked pretty darn good.
Today the 3-2 walk, the weak ass contact seeing peeing eye double, the wild pitch. Another poster put up some info on how Luis has had some bad luck this year. He has a 5.56 ERA but a 4.16 FIP, BABIP last year was .286 this year .325.
I think if both these guys give it their all and focus not only is this good for them as individuals but good for the team. Emerson Hancock had a start or 2 where they told him just gas it out and give us 3 or 4 as an opener. He did really well in them and really these two have both looked good the past 2 games.
For now I think it is a neat and innovative solution to an extremely rare team situation.
Is it any better or worse than making either one a LR guy that they plan to use for 3 or 4 innings?
Let’s let it play out and not be too concerned with Luis or Miller being but hurt about not getting the W when the team does.
