Distinguished gentlemen? As I stare down the barrel of my 60th birthday in a few weeks, I’ve realized I didn't just step into my old and grouchy phase—I’ve fully metamorphosed into my father, a man whose entire personality was fueled by spite, regular bowel movements, and a deep-seated hatred for anyone touching his tools.

I’ve officially achieved a level of existential irritation where my tolerance for bullshit is exactly zero. I am now a man who looks at a loud muffler and genuinely contemplates vehicular manslaughter, views teenagers simply existing in my peripheral vision as a personal assault, and feels a profound, almost erotic satisfaction from cancelling weekend plans.

At this point, my primary hobby is making a sound like a dying animal every time I stand up. I firmly believe the true pinnacle of human civilization isn't medical science or space exploration, but the absolute, vein-popping fury of discovering someone left two seconds on the microwave timer and didn't hit clear.

Oh great, so now I know what I've got to look forward to in eight months. So far thankfully I'm only grouchy about Mariner baseball and people less than half my age who think they've accumulated more life experience and wisdom than I have.

Half your age? Ha! How about three years old! This guy will watch me and go... "that's not the way you do that". I just stare at him in disbelief. Okay, I measured him... he's 44 inches. He's a big kid. He is like a head taller than kids two years older than he is. He's thick too, kids here tend to be more wirey. It's funny, I could go on and on. He speaks English with everyone. And just his attitude, people that don't know him I think believe he's from America, like a tourist. If I came back there with him I don't think people would be aware of him being raised in a foreign country
