Wed GT Woo v Braxton Ashcraft: Is this win streak real or just the hicks?

Post by mostonmike » Wed Jun 24, 2026 7:12 am

3.40pm PDT / 11.40pm BST

Woo v Braxton Ashcraft 6-3 record, 15 starts, 3.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP
A 26-year-old, 6'5" right-handed starting pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates who's had a terrible run of injuries including Tommy John in 2022. He finally made his MLB debut just over a year ago and they used him in a hybrid role—18 appearances out of the bullpen and 8 starts— 2.70 ERA across 69.2 total innings.

His fastball that averages 97.4 mph including later in the game. Opponents are hitting under .100 against him this season when runners are in scoring position which seems to be his key. Recently had 11 strikeouts in a game v Twins with no walks.

He faced the Mariners on July 4th last year in relief - Dylan Moore hit a 2-run home run so we were probably stunned about that rather than observing this guy.

Not mentioning football, oh yes I am - Its Scotland v Brazil tonight which should be fun after last night's bore-draw for England.

Go M's

The Mariners have scored three runs or less in eight straight games, the second-worst streak of all time after the 2010 team which had an 11-game streak. Even the 1978 team which was the worst Mariner team of all time didn't do this.

Braxton is gonna be tough. Cant let him get to 2 strikes often. Hopefully Woo can have another strong game. Best lineup we have had in months. When u have your best hitter batting 6th I mean wow!!! Only missing Donno. Just really really hope can try and stay healthy.

Pretty impressed with PITTSBURG'S broadcast team so I be listening to them tonight. Beautiful park and nice program going on in a mid market team. I think we will win, nice lineup tonight.

Offense coming out smoking the ball. Great start. Keep it going!!

Randy's hamstring ruined him. He sucks right now. Gonna waste and only get a run. LETS GO DOM!

After Julio trash abs!!! Should have really let it off there. Ughhh

Oh, tough break for Arrozarena, a few inches from a three run home run. That would have been a sweet start. We did get one run.

Couple good young pitchers working tonight, each one starts out with a pair of strikeouts in the first inning, but the M's did get that one run.

Yep Emerson has hit the skids with the bat. And the Pirates have a nice little club. They just a game and a half behind the Mariners with this year's edition. Tough game today, hate to waste a double there by Cole Young.
