If Hancock and/or Kirby are on the block, who should you go after?

Problem with trading for Shaw is that it just kicks the can further down the road. Do you want to win now or just keep building and building while bricks fall off the bottom of the building? Kirby... Logan... they're not going to be here forever.

By the time Shaw, Emerson, Young turn into above average players (if that ever happens) you've just punted the best rotation you've possibly ever had as an organization... unless you firmly believe Sloan/Anderson/Miller/Woo are going to be just as good...

What I do like about Shaw is that he seemed to play a good 3B before he was relegated to the OF because they signed Bregman. And he is a right handed hitter who has hit lefties well... but he's also been a liability vs righties... so who knows.

I'm pretty sure Felnin is about as close to untouchable as Sloan and Anderson are at this point.

Certainly wouldn't be adding him to a deal for another team to eat Castillo's $$. The Met's fans (surprisingly) said as much in the comments.

I also doubt that Jerry will lose enough pride to trade what it will take to get Weaver... a guy he DFA'd in September of '23.

I think a Castillo for Robert Jr. 1:1 lines up though. Only hit him against lefties and let him go after the year.

I wonder if Luis Robert Jr.'s career is over after this season? He gets worse each season despite being in what should be his prime productive years. It makes you wonder if he was getting some help early on in his career when he was good.

I don't think it's "over."

He mashes lefties (career .872 OPS) and there's always room on a roster for a bat like that. Even in the last few down years he's put out an .842 OPS and .860 OPS vs the dexterity... and he's a plus defender.

The Mets were stupid to pick up his $20M option and I was astonished when they did so. He has another one this year which surely will not be picked up.

But a career as a platoon outfielder vs lefties who plays good defense will keep him around.
