A few tangential thoughts:

The M’s checked in on Miller. They asked for Anderson. The M’s flipped the bird in response. Miller is a game changer, but IMO, Anderson could be the next Skubal. No trade, ever.

Jerry has already addressed our apparent needs - bullpen and RH hitting. Both were anticlimactic and unlikely to move the needle. But he did it. Anything that happens in the next 2 hours will be nibbling around the edges.

Cal and Julio are supposed to be team leaders. Julio is a giggleshit who only shows up for the free access to dugout Double Bubble and Cal still couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. Nothing has changed. Nothing is likely to change at this point.

Have we forgotten about Donovan? The dude has the potential to change the game. But he is made of glass. He’s is persona non grata. He is a mythical creature. That trade was a bust.

We have a bunch of stellar relievers set to come off the IL. I guess we are all hoping that Brash and company will change our fortunes. But no reliever can save a game that is lost because of miserable offense.

And so we circle back to “our offense stinks and nothing that has happened will change it”.

Oh well. I guess I can still go the ballpark for the $15 beers and not give a shit about whether the M’s win or lose.

Who else is out there thats available. Arraez would of been nice but doesn't play 3B. Miller's not available neither is chapman. Boston played themselves right back into the playoff hunt. Who's the major upgrade. The 2 biggest moves are Adley to Boston & Skubal to LA. Outside of that who gives a shit. No impact type moves. What moves did Astros & Texas do to get better. Castillo to Chicago. Laughable. Who'd Yankees add or TB. Doing something is better than doing nothing.

I am huge on Otto Lopez - even Zach Neto. That would move the needle as far as I am concerned.

Told you guys this deadline would be a nothing Burger yet people on X all week saying trade Kirby for a HAUL. Every time I would reply asking what haul. Probably did this at least a dozen times and NEVER got a single response. Hilarious how 90% of people are completely incapable of critical thinking. Just trade him for a HAUL! AND leave us with ZERO SP depth and a rookie that would have to be shut down in mid Sept in the rotation.

Yeah the most risk averse team in the history of sports that wouldn't trade a single starter in YEARS is going to trade two in 48 hours. Ya right. So many complete dopes in this world..

I have read nothing new or noteworthy. The stuff we are all hearing is the same stuff that’s been discussed for the last 2 months. In short:

• We need a right handed bat and a reliever. So does almost everyone else.

• We have the number 8 farm system, so we have depth to use if we so choose. Only Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan are untouchable (they may be called up later in the season).

• The M’s may finally trade from pitching depth. Of course Castillo is the one they want to be in the chop, but he’s the most expensive, he’s on the wrong side of 30, he has another expensive year left in his contract, and he has an ERA of nearly 5. So, yeah. There’s that. They should have traded him during the offseason.

• All the armchair pundits want Wilson Contreras. But so does everyone else. Even if he was available - which I doubt he is since the Red Sox are raking it now - some evil empire like the Dodgers or Yankees will get him because they are willing pony the fuck up.

• We have SS and 2B locked up for the foreseeable future, but we have a glaring gap at 3B moving forward.

• Everyone is waiting for the post all-star break surge in Cal and Julio. And all of our problems will be solved once they figure out to hit again and Brendan Donovan comes off the IL. Hope springs eternal.

• Dipoto is on record as saying they aren’t going to make any splashy moves before the deadline.

So yeah - let’s all just get used to the fact that nothing will happen, we wind up 4th in the division and 8 games out of a wild card spot.

Unsure what you mean by "nothing will happen." That hasn't been their deadline performance since before the rebuild. They've been pretty active at the deadline the last couple of years and I don't see that changing.

I don't know that it will be something earth shattering like Abrams... but again, a decent reliver and a player like Taylor Ward would do a lot for this team.

Your lineup is almost identical to mine but I think Donovan would be a perfect #2 hitter and move everyone done a spot.
