Pretty much every other franchise in the league would have fired him already. We've never seen a Mariner manager so often make at-the-time bad decisions although as we've talked about ad nauseum he's probably DiPoto's puppet.

It's like your X posts on Garver and Refsnyder yesterday. They keep these guys long after they've expired and look at what happens.

The hilarious thing is they think they are smarter than everyone else because the think they are measured and non knee jerk and are rational and patient but they are WAY worse than that. Slow playing everything to the point of being paralyzed with fear of taking action to rectify obviously bad situations.

I don't think Dan has any options with his coaching;
I read the other day that Dipshit-o's buddy (assistant or whatever), say that "They will discuss with Dan where Ward will hit in the lineup".

Doesn't this say that Dan is micromanaged as much as Jerry Jones micromanaged his coaches 20 years ago?

What needs to happen is that someone in the organization needs to call them out on it:
Jay Buener; during a broadcast needs to say something...... because what can the organization do to him?
Dan; I would love if during the 50th celebration would grab the microphone and quite on the spot unless things change.
Griffey; get on record that you support Dan and the organization needs to make a change.

Should he be fired? Yesterday

Will he be fired? I refer the honorable gentleman to the reply I gave on the last day before the All-Star break...

Last game before the all-star break if it ends in defeat, is a perfect time for the FO to think about it. He's definitely skating on thin ice with them. Other thing in his favour is the question of who to put in charge if they do bin him? I don't see them approaching someone in advance.

I think its either today, or they stick with him until the end of the season come hell or high water.
He stays until such time that a play-off place is no longer possible.

Griffey is part of the ownership group. Remember when everyone got excited when that was announced because they thought that FOR SURE he would demand they focus on winning instead of profits??? Kind of need more than a 0.3% share of the team to do that.

Um….why stop with Dan?

Dipoto has had his hand on the helm since 2015. We are in the zenith of his rebuild - a rebuild that took 11 years - and look at the shit show we rolled out last night. Dipoto couldn’t manage a wet dream.

The hitting coaches seem to have one strategy - “grab a bat and wave at whatever you see”. Our hitting is an absolute fucking embarrassment. You could hire one of those dudes that stands in a street corner and spins a cardboard arrow for Sleep Country Mattresses and you’d get better advice.

Stanton is content to let his minions do just enough to make the average fan think they’re always in the hunt. As long as he gets to go home each night and roll around in a swimming pool filled with cash, he’s happy.

So yeah - lots of heads should roll. None will. The easiest solution for all of us would be to abandon this shit show of a team and root for the Dodgers. It’s easy being a Dodgers fan.
