Sure I get it but you can't fire the players and ultimately Jerry created this roster so the buck stops with him. He gets paid millions to create a roster than doesn't underperform but he hasn't done that so he should be fired. The new POPO/GM will hire a new manager so that will take care of itself.

Look, at this point, the M’s don’t even operate like a real baseball team; they’re being run like a suburban strip-mall landlord that accidentally owns a stadium and just happens to host 81 games a year. Watching Cal Raleigh fall on the sword for the entire organization makes my stomach turn. When your star catcher has to act as the human shield because the front office is hiding behind their spreadsheets and financial balance sheets, it tells you everything you need to know about the total vacuum of leadership in Seattle.

Honestly, anyone saying this is just "a bunch of guys slumping at the same time" is completely deluded. Dipoto spent nearly a decade building this exact offense around strikeout-heavy, high-variance power hitters, gambling that our incredible young pitching staff would throw seven shutout innings every single night to cover up a broken lineup. Well, the second the ball stops flying over the fence, the whole card house collapses because there’s zero contact, zero situational hitting, and zero margin for error. You can’t pin that on Dan Wilson; a manager can’t magically teach contact to a roster explicitly built on swing-and-miss profiles, though he and his staff certainly aren't helping with the lifeless energy. That said, I have no explanation for the fact that they traded for a guy who is famous for plate discipline and drawing walks, and has drawn 0 walks in the 8 games he’s played for the M’s so far.

Bottom line, Dipoto needs to be fired, yesterday. His infamous "54% win rate" philosophy was never a target; it was an ideological ceiling designed to keep us hovering right around 85 wins without ever having to spend real money. But even if they kick Jerry to the curb, nothing really changes until John Stanton sells the team. Stanton has perfected the art of milking this franchise for maximum profit while taking zero financial risks on actual elite free agents, treating payroll like a hard ceiling while our generational pitching rotation gets wasted. I didn’t say that spending big in free agency was THE key to success, but it is certainly part of it. Spending big on key addition IS part of the formula for success.

The Mets represent one end of the spectrum - reckless roster building but spending big money, thoughtlessly. The dodgers represent a team that does think about roster depth, and they spend huge in free agency.

The Rays are on the other end of the spectrum- they rely on player development with little spent in free agency, and every few years they have just combination of players to make a run of it.

The M’s are somewhere in the middle. They have relied too heavily on pitcher development and too little on position players. They rely too heavily on the long ball for offensive success and they don’t play enough small ball. The front office is too concerned with lining their own pockets with profits to go after key offensive support; imagine if we had signed Luis Arraez and Taylor Ward in the offseason and then traded for Yandy Diaz. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but these guys could set the table and show the swing-happy yokels on the team that you don’t always have to swing for the fences.

Anyhow - my point is just that Dipoto should bear most of the blame for creating the team we have now, and Wilson and the hitting staff have created the culture that exists among the position players. Failing to be aggressive with free agents is part of the equation.

Great post brother! You nailed it though I don't think we're going to be cycling through front offices standing seems to love Jerry for some reason. This is the 11th season with him with no end in sight unless we lose about 90% of the rest of our games. LOL
