Like I said, draft guys. Carson and Penny were both drafted. The Cowboys and Rams both gave second contracts to RBs. Zeke played well, but does it look like it worked out for them? I think the reason these guys hold out, the reason they start making noise about more money so early in their first deals...see Barkley, Saquon, is they know their shelf life is short. Rookie deals are five years. Seems about right for a back.57reasons wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:30 am^^^^^^ that. use the cash for DL, OT, TE, C, maybe WR.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 12:25 amStay away from any FA RB period how's that sound.

i feel like there ought to be an exception to the rookie deal contract length for RBs - should be at least 1 year shorter due to the shorter shelf life. if teams hit on one as a rookie, could just work him to death with no regard for preservation, get max value while underpriced, then release and start all over again 5 years later.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:34 pmLike I said, draft guys. Re: Another back besides Carson?
some sort of prorated deal, with backup qbs at the other end of the spectrum
Re: Another back besides Carson?
In the might get released piece I saw All Day AP listed and I think he is just 2.5 M so maybe we could add him for like 2M. He has averaged 4.3 and 4.2 Y/C last 2 years he is no longer the best back in the league but maybe he wants to go to a contender.

Rookie deals are 4 years except if you are a 1st rd pick. The team has the option of extending it to a 5th year if you are say an Ifedi.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:34 pmLike I said, draft guys. Carson and Penny were both drafted. Derek Henry had a TON of miles put on him at Alabama. His first 2 years in the NFL were the equivalent of the M's shutting down Kirby and Gilbert in their draft years
