Lefties got him out in the minors, yet here he is in a Mariner uniform beaming with confidence. As for going out of your way to get your ass kicked, isn't that what putting Ward in the lineup is? There was a reason to not put Montes in the starting lineup yesterday, but what you're saying isn't it.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 4:56 pmHe struggles against lefties. I dont see whats to be gained by rolling him out his second day in the majors to struggle against a leftie here. You could in fact damage the confidence he is developing. Its like bringing along a boxer. You pick your fights, you dont go out of your way to get his ass kicked. As a fan youd like to see it ok. But at least dipoto isnt going out of his way to indulge fans.

Would Laz have done worse than 0-5 with a K? Ward has ZERO future in this org. Loser idiots....making the decisions and how has it turned out with Ref and Ward?????????? Oh but all orgs do this fucking idiotic Bullshit. Do yo think that excuses it. All countries go to war so every country should go to war. Jump off a bridge because some other dumb ass did...

for that game and that situation. Id prefer Ward out there than Laz. Ward at least has a history of hitting lefties and the fact that Laz has a future with the club im willing to be patient with his development. Im not making laz decisions based on hating Ward. The situations are separate. Its a mistske in my mind to combine them that way

That was true with Refsnyder as well and refusing to acknowledge that he was done probably cost them some wins. Ward has 80+ plate appearances with the Ms and done virtually nothing. With the season winding down he needs to show something or get out of the way. Enough with the "tomorrow could be the day he breaks out" mentality.

If he can't hit lefties, he shouldn't be here. Same goes for everyone.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 12:02 pmI think thats it. Montez is a september callup. Thats generally considered to be about giving a prospect a taste of the big leagues as them being ready to save a season. They brought up Ford last season, did he ever actually play? Montez has struggled against left handed pitching so far in the minors. So dipoto promotes him and then runs him out there daily against ML lefties in an attempt to save the season? That to me would smell like negligence. Sacrificing his prospect to try and deflect from the lousy season. Dipotos approach might seem conservative but isnt that preferred to desperate attempts to save his job? I really don't want dipoto trying to save the season, that worries mebpj wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:49 amDepends what kind of prospect he is I guess. He didn't seem to need a soft landing as he was dropping a bomb over the center field wall at Fenway.
You're right that they're not treating Montes like he could save their season. But that's pretty much what they need. Taylor Ward's not gonna do it (that's where the Dipoto hate comes from- he can't pick an MLB bat to save his life).
So, instead, they'll platoon, as usual. And Montes will tail off like everyone else does.
If he's not ready for it- don't bring him up.
It's not rocket science.

Re: 9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
Would it make sense to send Montes back down before the season ends so that he can play in the minors in the event of a lockout, or does the Rule 5 thing go back into effect if they do?
Re: 9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
The fact that the A's intentionally walked JP late in the game even though he was the potential winningjust so they could pitch to Ward was telling. Tells me their manager knows Ward is an automatic out, and that he is a smarter manager than Dan

He has to be on the 40 man so he can't play in the minors if there is a lockout.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:51 pmWould it make sense to send Montes back down before the season ends so that he can play in the minors in the event of a lockout, or does the Rule 5 thing go back into effect if they do?
