What is the reason teams like the As & Rockies & Angels are constantly mediocre. Is it lack of accountability, talent, poor talent evaluation, spending?

Baseball, at its core, is about development and talent evaluation. You need a pipeline of good, young players that are cheap in tandem with really good veterans.

All 3 teams struggle to develop draft picks and are horrible at adding veteran talent. With the Angels and Rockies, they haven't been able to draft or develop any sort of pitching worth a lick in years. They also had really bad signings in guys like Anthony Rendon, Justin Upton, Trout's injuries, Kris Bryant, etc. The A's have also really struggled to develop pitching... combine that with not spending any money... it's been ugly.

I think the A's have a decent culture but just don't have the talent to compete. I think the Rockies culture is taking a turn in the right direction with a youth movement. I think the Angels have struggled a bit with culture but that's turning around.

Its not going to make any difference who the manager is. Wilson wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination but no one would have won with this garbage roster. They've got a front office that has zero ability to identify and develop hitting talent. 11 drafts and they have produced one hitter with a career WAR over 5. 11 years of horrible free agent signings. How this guy still has a job blows my mind.

That to me I think is the biggest single issue for the season, why did they wait until the day after the season was over to fire Wilson? I know the answer, because of sentimentality.

Exactly their fatal flaw. Have said it for YEARS. ALWAY slow to move on when something is clearly failing. WAY too afraid to be accused of being reactionary and go WAY to far to the other end of the spectrum which is indecisive wishful thinking...

Right? Dipshitto is the one that just handed him the job, instead of making him interim. I still say it was to save his own ass. If the Manager has JUST been given the job, how do you fire the GM? The new GM is going to come in and fire the manager they hired a month or so earlier?

Jerry is a slimebag, and we deserve so much better.
