Wow, and he just signed that contract in 2016, the last season in which he was worth big money. His hitting talent is still there but his body just fell apart, he lost his power with it and the Tigers are going to spend the next five years paying for Manny Mota.
Amazing. He was 33 when they inked that deal and he was better than Albert Pujols at 30 when he signed his big contract with the Angels but in the first year of that deal he fell below Pujols' level.
The Tigers can't even trade him like we did Cano. They lost that gamble almost as badly as the Orioles did with Chris Davis.

Can I play for the Tigers for S154 million? I'm in my decline...Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 6:30 pmhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... mi01.shtml

They can spread it out over the next 30 years. I'm good with that.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

You would probably make more in one year than Mr. Colavito did in his career!rockycola wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 6:57 pmCan I play for the Tigers for S154 million? I'm in my decline...Hy Feiber wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 6:30 pmhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... mi01.shtml

Like the Mets/Bonilla contract. I always loved that idea. At this point, the M's owe me for 40 years of fandom. Having to watch this shit and still go to 5 games or so a year with my 2 boys.... ugh - the M's need some type of buy back program.

Bobby Bo, keep cashing dem checks! I'd call that the best sports long-term money score ever, except for the Silma Brothers from the ABA who scored all that NBA TV money when they merged https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozzie_and_Daniel_SilnaWoodinvilleCoug wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 8:01 pmLike the Mets/Bonilla contract. Cabrera's fat ass threw away his career imo.
The guy clearly loves the buffet a little too much for his body to perform.
They need to get him on the Atkins diet and a treadmill. Back to the old Cabrera in a month.

I add Justin Heyward to the list of Krap contracts, owed $106 mil for next 5 years.
In year 4 of the contract, paltry numbers, no power, the smart Cards knew not to sign him long term.

Heyward, 25 years old, coming off of 5.8 and 6.6 bWAR seasons, got the contract and immediately turned into an average player, never to return to goodness.
