I don't like the pick 4.54 40 is not impressive for a 6' 240# LB. I watched a u-tube video I hoped would jazz me up and was not impressed. He ranked in the 130's on CBS top 500 and #11 LB.

Cute one John. Cute.

nfl.com was a little nicer with a 6.29 grade. but we could have had
Patrick Queen 6.71 #23 CBS

Someone here said ST player.

I hate this pick.

Istilllovethems:

I think I would have picked one of these 5 players instead of Brooks:

Mims from Baylor. More weapons for Russ fast and tall!
Claypool from Notre Dame. Fast and big. To complement the two studs we have.
Cleveland at Tackle
Matos at DE I think he has upside
Justin M from Texas A and M.

Don’t hate the pick at all. Just, didn’t want him.

I’d feel better if we get a guy like Julian owkwara from ND in the 2nd. He’s got huge upside.

4.54 isn't impressive for a linebacker?

He only started running again one week before the combine after recovering for a late-season injury... he ran a 4.54 despite 0 training. He didn't do any drills as the combine because I think he's in month 5 of a 7-month recovery. He likely would have ran in the mid 4.4's... his 4.54 was 7th among linebackers in the draft.

He ranked in the 130's on CBS because Pete Prisco does the rankings there and is a total dumb ass. The guy has hated on every pick the Hawks have ever made and still doesn't think Russell Wilson is a good QB. Seriously, go look at his Twitter... he actually think Russ is mediocre.

Almost everyone had a mid-second round grade on Brooks except CBS... he went a few picks earlier than that and was rumored to be sneaking near the first round late in the process.

Yep, somehow PC and JS are the only guys in America that saw this guy as a first round talent. Jesus...this place is hilarious. The world is full of out of work MLB that run fast. But somehow? We needed two of them.

Mims: Never saw that as a fit... the Hawks already have a tall burner in DK and if they were looking at wideout it was going to be someone who is a twitchy burner with the wiggle to return punts and kicks... with Reagor gone (who they were rumored to really like)... wideout was out the window in my opinion.

Claypool: Same as above.

Cleveland: I could have seen this selection. But they also didn't meet with Ezra Cleveland... they typically only draft players early that they've meet and they met with Brooks at the combine... appears the interest wasn't there. This goes for Claypool and Mims. They met with Reagor.

Matos: They met with Matos at the combine... but I always thought/said that their drafting an edge rusher with their first pick was going to be predicated on how they felt about Clowney. I think they believe the chances are high that Clowney comes back... hence no Matos selection.

Justin M: Yeah I could have seen that pick too. But again, they didn't meet with him... and there's some people out there who believe he could go in the late 2nd to early 3rd... so it's not out of the realm of possibility. Also, it seems they're high on Raequon Davis potentially... so if that's the case, they're not going to draft a DT they're maybe not high on when they figure another will be there with one of their second rounders who they do like.

Totally disagree with your assessment of Claypool. He is a ball hawk. Red zone, underneath, possession as well.

Wait and see, he will be a really good player. I can understand Mims assessment. Then again why Go get Dorsett. He runs the same routes as DK. Just small.

Using meeting as a gauge, they have not met with a lot of their picks if I am remembering correct.

I don’t hate this pick. Especially after seeing him live. We have a high priced inside backer. I think we could have used in another place. There must be a trade with the Jags or Clowney action.

We will see. Just not super hyped.

They have met with all the picks they've taken in the first round or with their first pick. I can guarantee you that.

Dorsett can return punts and kicks... was super good at it in college but wasn't used in that role in Indy and New England. Not sure the reason... but maybe we'll see him do that.

Dorsett is also a slot receiver. Both DK and Lockett play on the outside for the Hawks... DK plays on the left outside... Lockett plays on the right outside... I'm not sure they need another guy on the outside which is where you would put a guy like Claypool or Mims... I seriously doubt you'd be lining them up inside. They want to get the ball to Dorsett on slants, screens and jet sweeps where he can use his speed to hit the homerun.

Nobody likes this pick. That's why the NFL sent cameras to 58 homes...yet somehow we managed to be the only one to pick in the first 32 picks to not have a camera in the guys home.

But, not to fear. Someday this guy might replace Bobby...please disregard that this team needs help now.

Any chance we drafted him to play SS?
Holy shit! At 240 maybe he could play SS. That would put the fear of g=God into anyone coming across the middle! Two inches shorter than Kam but the same weight.
