Jake is a utility player similar to Jordan Cowan in age and skills, though more power and hits right hand. Drafted out of Houston... college player.... 113th player taken in the draft, 13 homers last year along with 30 doubles.... adds minor league development depth, certainly provides some value. I'll be heading over to Modesto to watch Jake, Jered Kellenic and Cal Raleigh in action.

Agreed. That's about the best return I think anyone could have expected for Bruce or any of the other older
players with big contracts. The farm still has some depth issues and the i field is one area that needs bolstering. I'll,take it.

I dont think they would have picked up so much if they didnt get back a guy they thought could contribute in some way.

Although, saving $3 million is a lot when all you're really trying to do is create some roster space to give some of these youngins a chance.

Aside from Encarnacion they've all kinda been problems. And even EE's .850 OPS doesnt stack up too well at 1B.

We could definitely be even worse, but I'm not sure our record would be much worse without the old fogeys on the team. They're not winning much for us.

EE is 11th in OPS and 9th in WAR for 1Bs. He has some decent value. Probably more than Bruce.
