I actually have proof of this. Around thanksgiving of 2018 we had a single mother and her 14 yo son living with us. He showed me a school assignment that he was given. It was an illustration of the Pilgrims landing here in MA in 1620 and the Indians welcoming them. The question was "What would have Trump said to Pilgrims if he was one of the Indians." I asked Lucas what he was going to write and he said, "Go home, you aren't wanted here!" I was surprised since I knew his mother is a conservative so I asked, do you believe that?

He said, "no but if I say that Trump would have said something nice, I will get a bad grade."

This teachers was literally punishing students for being Pro Trump.

I swear on my life that this is the truth. Verbatim.
Multiply this random / rare encounter you had with today's "school work" by a million, 10 million, etc. I ran into the same deal entirely by chance when I looked at my grand daughter's home work. The hand out she was given matter of factly stated "We already know the USA is the most violent nation on Earth and with the biggest chance of getting shot on school grounds"

We don't teach, we indoctrinate. When I taught a Social Studies Class during the 2016 election, I told the kids to go out to five websites and read what they had to say. Three if the five were VOX, RealClearPolitics, and WND. I was called on the carpet for trying to indoctrinate the students though I gave then two liberal websites, one middle of the road, and two conservative websites. The week before the election, we took a secret ballot vote.

Now think about this. I was teaching in Tacoma, here in Western Washington. Trump won in a landslide. 24 kids, seven for Hillary and the rest. seventeen, for Trump. When you give students the chance to learn for themselves, and not indoctrinate, they actually can make up their own minds. And I thought I was teaching fairly evenhandedly.

Thanks for this "INTEL" because it does my heart good to hear this. In fact I'm very surprised. To be fair..if those kids felt like they needed to be "Pro Trump" in order to get a good grade from you..well you know how the rest of that goes.

If I were a teacher and my class voted 17-7 for Trump in a secret ballot, I'd flunk the whole group. The 7 who voted Hillary would just be collateral damage. <<< OK, I hope you realize I'm making a (probably really bad) joke. But I'd like to argue that there are a lot of teachers who do NOT indoctrinate, but it seems that a lot of the posters here are assuming that if someone is a "liberal" teacher, he or she is going to try to turn the kids into a bunch of lefties. Seriously, what percentage of teachers do you think do this? (And by the way, IMO even ONE person doing it is too many.)

I don't doubt that the political left is overrepresented in the teaching profession, compared to the general population. But I am pretty sure that most teachers are as fair as they can be, just like most human beings are. Most people take professional responsibilities pretty seriously.

World baseball classic which was to be played almost a YEAR from now is cancelled. Now that I think of it the should cancel all sports for at least the next Five years, you know just to super duper extra safe. Get the risk of someone getting affected down to one in a trillion.

Gil... the voice of moderation and of reason. When are you running for office? Or taking over Scott Servais' job? :D

I doubt Math teachers or woodshop teachers try to incorporate their political views into the lesson plan I would bet the vast majority of social science and liberal arts teachers consider part of their professional responsibility to educate students in line with their own political beliefs.
