Re: Comprehensive look at who every mock draft has us taking
Can't find Veen's stats anywhere. Are they not available?

Slim chance. It depends on how much Toronto and Kansas City value pitching. I think at least one of those guys will get scooped up. And since there is more value on OF than middle INF, and Whit Merrifield isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I think Veen might be off the board. But God I hope I'm wrong.
My Mock Draft Top 10 at the moment
1. Detroit - Spencer Torkelson
2. Baltimore - Austin Martin
3. Miami - Asa Lacey
4. Kansas City - Emerson Hancock
5. Toronto - Zac Veen
6. Seattle - Nick Gonzales
7. Pittsburgh - Max Meyer
8. San Diego - Reid Detmers
9. Colorado - Heston Kjerstad
10. Angels - Austin Hendrick

I don't know where you'll find any of that but he's comped to Cody Bellinger.

I'd definitely take that in my future lineup with Kelenic, JRod, E. White, and Kyle Lewis.

I still don't see JD taking a guy that won't contribute for at least 3 years. JD will be gone if we don't make the playoffs by 2022. I could see Nick being promoted by the end of next season.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 10:09 pmI don't know where you'll find any of that but he's comped to Cody Bellinger.

btw does Veen project as a CF. If not he is not more valuable than a Middle Infer.

Its hard to get an estimatimation of what Dipoto will do. He was so high on Kelenic that he traded for him the first chance he got. Maybe Dipoto views Veen the same way, and thinks he might move up the system just as fast as Jarred would. Or he might stick to his statement that he prefers an up the middle bat. I hope you get youre guy DT. But if Nick Gonzales gets scooped up by Kansas City or Toronto, I have a feeling you're going to be severely heart broken.
Do you have a back up pick(s)?
And yes it is great to be talking baseball again.

Big difference though. JK has already played in AA and will be promoted this season. Zac is only 18.5 yo and has never played a college or minor league game. Barring miracle you are looking at a 2023 debut.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:44 pmIts hard to get an estimatimation of what Dipoto will do. I will be disappointed but not heart broken. Sounds like those starters got skills as well.

Is Gonzales the highest rated player for the Mariners on you're board? Is there any pitcher you'd take over Nick?D-train wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:59 pmBig difference though. The only pitchers I would pick over him aren't going to fall to us. This is our worst nightmare. Both Nick and Zac gone. Hancock is underwhelming...

See and I'd be OK with Hancock(higher floor and ceiling than Gilbert), Detmers(Marco 2.0), Meyer(Edwin Diaz worst case scenario), or Abel(highest upside of any pitcher in the draft).
I doubt that both KC AND TOR both go hitting, but they may have the same game plan as Seattle. Take a more projectable hitter and tap into the deeper pitching pool towards the end.
