Did you donate to "Build the Wall?" Oh and Taxes...

Post by IStillLoveTheMs » Thu Aug 20, 2020 3:30 pm

SDNY: Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, "each of which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison."

Bannon, under the guise of a private effort to build sections of a border wall on the Mexican border, allegedly used money he stole from gullible Republicans to buy a boat and have plastic surgery. He was also dumb enough to talk about the scheme and texts via email.

Can't wait for Trump's, "I barely know him. We maybe interacted once or twice. He was low level, so I don't recall."

I believe that makes 15 former members of the Trump Administration who have been indicted?

Also in the news... After last month’s SCOTUS decision rejecting absolute immunity, SDNY judge has ordered production of Trump’s tax records to DA Cy Vance. Next move - Trump will appeal. At some point, he will reach the end of the legal road and Vance will get the records.

But don't worry, I'm sure all of this is a nothing burger... nothing to see here. :?

Instead of charging him with conspiracy on both counts....why didn't they just wait for Bannon to actually commit these crimes..? The Spooks get paid overtime don't they...?

I have always felt he was a drunk!
Wondered what he was doing around
Trump. Didn't Trump get rid of him?
Help me out.

I wonder how many unindicted co-conspirators and indict counts will be forthcoming on that "most transparent administration ever" will net. Funny thing about liberals. They think all humans are good and then surprised when they prove human. Conservatives, on the other hand, figure humans are flawed and are not really surprised when someone does something wrong. Bannon will get his. As will the others. But if you think Trump sat down with his feet on the desk and talked to Bannon about his "Wall Scam," I think you'll be disappointed.

And yeah, Trump fired him on January 9, 2018. Build the Wall Foundation was formed in December 2018.

Steve Bannon used to run Breitbart... which is, you know, the Conservative bible for media? He has described Breitbart as "the platform for the alt-right."

He was the vice president for Goldman Sachs in the early 90's... so much for draining the swamp...

He was the campaign manager for Trump and then chief strategist. Trump actually created a new position for him so he wouldn't have to go through Senate confirmation.

Bannon was behind many of Trump's travel ban and anti-asylum policies... and it's been reported that he was behind the "very fine people on both sides" when referring the white nationalists who chanted, "the Jews will not replace us," at Charlottesville.

He resigned from his post after reportedly clashing with John Kelly... and Kelly apparently asked him to resign shortly after Charlottesville.

He was around because Trump chose for him to be around... so much for knowing/having the best people.

Trump didn't fire him... he resigned on August 18th 2017.

Also... nobody is claiming Trump is involved with the "Wall Scam." It's just Trump claiming that he knows/has the "best" people 40000000000 times over when it's pretty clear he's a terrible judge of character. His former Chief Strategist was scamming Republicans out of their money to privately build a border wall... it can't get more ironic than that.

I was thinking about this today that this is the fundamental difference between White Liberals and White Conservatives. A White Liberal has an unrealistic, overly optimistic view of humanity. In most cases their beliefs have never really been tested with their own money, or their own safety.

You are correct, ISLTM. But the earlier date puts even more distance between Trump and Bannon. And yes, he was "asked" to resign because he was being disruptive within the administration. Resignation looked better than being fired so Trump probably gave him the option.

But, ISLTM, you IMPLIED there was a connection. Very much like the MSM. Question for you? Do you know EVERYTHING about people you've been friends with over the past 10 or 20 years? And if we find out one of them was embezzling money from their company, are you guilty by association? If you are a member of the MSM, you would be complicit.

Moe, you stated, "I was thinking about this today that this is the fundamental difference between White Liberals and White Conservatives. A White Liberal has an unrealistic, overly optimistic view of humanity. In most cases their beliefs have never really been tested with their own money, or their own safety."

That was exactly the reasoning why the Founders placed so many impediments in front of government and why they created the Electoral College. They understood that many people only expect the best in people. That would be the liberal ideal. Conservatives understand that people are rarely altruistic. They can be at times, but you need checks and balances, a bicameral legislature, and time to distance from events so emotion doesn't run rampant.

Don't forget, when Trump took office
there was/is Republicans that didn't
like him. It isn't just the Democrats.
So he had to sift them out too.
