If winning determined your earning power Brady would be #1. He's not even in the top 30 . You're sorely mistaken. An athlete is either marketable or they aren't. Seahawks will have second most cap space in NFL next year. Wilson's contract isn't hindering them from doing anything. False narrative.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:18 pmHis revenue is fine now, but winning one or more additional SB's could have a huge impact on his earning power later in life. It's about finding that optimal balance between cashing in now and building image (or name recognition) for future ventures.
So does anyone know what Wilson's additional $65 M in earnings/winnings came from?

Success on the field has a favorable impact on employment. and marketing opportunities for an athlete once their playing days are over. Of course there is more to the equation and one could argue endlessly to what degree each factor or aspect of the person effects those opportunities. You don't believe that $5 M or so in extra cap space over several seasons would make enough difference in team success to offset the loss of salary with improved future earnings for RW. That's a legitimate view, but certainly debatable.

Odd Wilson signed a 4 year for 87.6M he got a 31 Million dollar signing bonus.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:18 pmHis revenue is fine now, but winning one or more additional SB's could have a huge impact on his earning power later in life. So even a 57.6/4 = 14.4 average plus 31 bonus= 44.4? I am not sure where the other 35 million in non endorsement money comes from. A little bit could come from play-off pro-bowl type extra but still.

Wilson got a 65 million dollar signing bonus with the new extension but he doesn't get it all this year. Even then it still doesn't add up to 89 million. I don't get itHanjag wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:54 pm

He should have just not thrown a pic in the SB and he wouldn't have to worry about getting a second ring by taking a pay cut.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:09 pmSuccess on the field has a favorable impact on employment. and marketing opportunities for an athlete once their playing days are over. The last year of his previous contract was cancelled by the new contract then? Or does the new contract (or extension) not take effect until 2020? In any case, Sportrac has him making $5 M in base salary and $19.2 M in signing bonus for 2019, although it says his "yearly cash" is $35 M, whatever the eff that means.ThePro wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:39 pmWilson got a 65 million dollar signing bonus with the new extension but he doesn't get it all this year. Re: Wilson 6th highest paid athlete worldwide
Salary cap designations and what he actually gets paid are two different things. He gets all of the Money from the signing bonus up front but it gets counted as prorated against the cap. I am not sure exactly how the remainder of the money gets spread out in his particular contract but after the 65 Million Signing Bonus is paid that leaves an average of 18.75 Million per year for the rest of the contract. that means he will get somewhere in the ballpark of 83.75 Million this year. So the 80.5 Million number they gave is probably close. It is misleading though because he won't even get an honorable mention on the list next season.

This would throw HB for a loop. According to him Tom Brady has made more money than any football player in history.
