Yeah, one of those signings got cut and another is on the practice squad. No clue what the reasoning behind the quantity over quality theory they threw at the O Line early this off season.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 5:31 pmYep. Ironic that will all those signings the only guy that got snaps was Shell.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 5:27 pmOkay I see you're reasoning there. If they don't sign those 10 offensive linemen though, wouldn't they have been able to do both?
Clowney had to be watching his offense last night wondering how in the world this happened again. Missed FGs or not, that was a dumb ass looking offense. At one point I think it was second and long, Henry had like 20 carries for 45 yards, and they shoved it into his belly to force another third and long, and wondered why the play action on third and long wasn't effective.
Henry is a beast, but man, 34 touches in week one? What is crazy is Tannehill still threw it 43 times! The Broncos just couldn't stay on the field and the Titans couldn't put them away. But there were times when I watched Henry get gang tackled two or three times in a row and wondered when he would get a break. It didn't come. The FB got on target and the backup RB got one target. The only other carries were 3 by Tannehill...otherwise, every catch or carry by someone in the backfield was Henry. I wonder if we ever did that a time or two in Beastmode's career? Man, it seemed like a lot! 34 touches right out of the gate with not much off season activity and no pre-season seems excessive. There were 4 other backs in the league with over 22 carries, but no one else with more than 25. Jacobs had 29 touches, McCaffrey had 26, Zeke had 25, and Edwards-Heller had 25. I watched the Cowboys and Chiefs play, and it didn't seem like Zeke and Edwards-Heller got overworked, so maybe I am off base?
Clowney looked a lot like he did with us. Got pressure, but never a sack. It will be very interesting to see his impact. I remember us talking after week one last year about how his impact visually seemed much more than his impact on the stat line...but, if that is the case again, is it really true? Tennessee had a pretty darn good defense last year. Can you blame the guys around him again?
Re: A couple of comparisons
One opted out, one is injured and one, as you pointed out, wasn't good enough to beat out the guy that couldn't beat out Joey Hunt.........

I think part of it was Pocic actually got to compete for the center position this year, and so far he looks the part. He was a center in college, and he looks to have stepped up his game this season. Also, he knew the offense, and with no preseason that was an advantage.

I guess he was injured when Britt got injured so I guess that explains Hunt taking over to an extent...Oregonhawk wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:40 pmI think part of it was Pocic actually got to compete for the center position this year, and so far he looks the part. yeah so many things went wrong for Pocic it was easy to give up on him, but i am actually very excited after yesterday's performance. first off they tried him at every position that he's not good at (tackle first, where he's too slow afoot), then guard, where he was too lean and not stout enough. that was all thanks to the wisdom of Cable, may he RIP. Then blocked by the two soiid if aging vet Guards and also Britt once he finally settled in at Center. then injured himself when he would have finally got chance as Britt's replacement. but having all last year to get healthy and get bigger has obviously helped him tremendously, and now at his right spot finally - gives me a lot of hope.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:55 pmI guess he was injured when Britt got injured so I guess that explains Hunt taking over to an extent...Oregonhawk wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:40 pmI think part of it was Pocic actually got to compete for the center position this year, and so far he looks the part.
