The FO trust has always been business first. When you say disarray in the boardroom, I tend to agree simply because they have never been onboard to do whatever it takes to win...It always seems to be tempered with the bottom line in mind. They have been extremely successful if you grade them on their business acumen and return on investment. They have a horrible track record with winning. They never wanted to rebuild it was always a competing team that gave fans a good night at the ball park. If these guys owned the Red Sox they’d have already been tarred and feathered and run out of town.

So for Jean Segura, we got J.P. Crawford, Isaiah Campbell, and Juan Then. Is this correct? How much salary did we end up eating?

In all fairness, Encarnacion was blocking the youngsters and helping us in the standings from getting a high draft pick. I understand that the Draft doesn't work the same way(*cough* David Gee *cough*), but still prefer the chance of getting the guy I want off the board first. Plus this a great opportunity to see the youngin's get some much needed playing time.

We got rid of Nicasio and lost Pazos too. You could probably consider those 2 a net even though.

The fanbase was pretty hard on Dipoto for giving up Pazos as well. I chalk this one up for Jerry knowing when to cut bait. Great evaluation there Jer.

Here's how the deal went down

Cashman- "We'll give you 2 lower prospects for EE.

Dipoto- "No, we're looking for top prospects"

Cashman- scoures the internet for their top prospect lists and finds a guy that is at the bottom of a "top prospect" list.

Dipoto thinks - we got him in the hook.

Cashman- "OK, we'll give one then"

Dipoto- "great sounds like a deal"

Cashman- "perfect my assistant already called it in"

Dipoto- "wait we haven't decided which prospect yet"

Cashman-"We said we'd give you Juan Then"

Dipoto- "mother f...."

There is no mlb ready 1B in the M's system. EE was blocking nobody. Seager is back and Voglebach can play DH or 1B. I gues if Healy was healthy you could say he doesn't have a position but thyose are not given they should be earned.

Vogelbach and Healy are going to split time at 1B and DH. There would be no room for them with EE taking up the majority of the time there. When Haniger and Bishop come back, Santana could take some DH at bats away as well.

They eat almost all of Jay Bruces contract for Scheiner, but won't do the same when trading Encarnacion? What a fuckling joke.

According to sources, other teams offered more talent to the Mariners for Encarnacion, but weren’t willing to take on as much of his salary as the Yankees were. Sources indicated the Astros and Rays were also actively involved, with the Rockies in the mix to a lesser extent./quote]

If that's the case, then I don't understand the business of baseball at all. More about the numbers than the talent coming back? What the article fails to mention is how much more valuable was the talent coming back. Being able to rid as much of Robinson Cano's salary as possible is a win in of itself. Thats what Bruce and company's contract essentially was. With the Yankees taking on more of EE's salary than other teams offering better prospects, it basically was considered more valuable to the organization going forward. We'll see what happens when it comes time to start writing checks again.

Juan Then definitely looks like a C to the Z type of pitcher to me.
