If this says anything about the Mariners organizational depth, Then goes from 27 for Yankees to 16 for a Mariners.

Another arm to add to our once barren farm system. I like the fact that it's more pitching depth. We need as many arms as possible.

 Wanna be even more pissed about this trade? Here you go!

They eat almost all of Jay Bruces contract for Scheiner, but won't do the same when trading Encarnacion? What a fuckling joke.

According to sources, other teams offered more talent to the Mariners for Encarnacion, but weren’t willing to take on as much of his salary as the Yankees were. Sources indicated the Astros and Rays were also actively involved, with the Rockies in the mix to a lesser extent./quote]

Down in the commentrs section:
Mariners wanted another team to take on more of Encarnacion’s contract. Apparently the Astros and Rays had better offers but the Yankees were willing to take on more money.
Why does the money matter? Edwin is a FA after this season and it’s not like the Mariners will be buyers at the deadline.

The front office is beyond fk all at this point. The Bruce trade Mariners send 18 million which pays for all of 2020 and 4 million of the 8.469 he is owed for the list 98 games of this season that he will play for the Phils. So, The M's save on paper 4.469 million from the trade but even that is BS. He would have been piucked up for the MLB min which puts the $ saved at about 3.2 to the good on this trade. The very next f-ing day Cutch goes down making them more desperate. f-u JD.
Now, again on EE and the fact they were not willing to eat some money to get better prospects in return is beyond fk all dumb ass fuck. Yes with-out EE they improve the chances incrementally of getting the 6th pick instead of the 8th pick etc. If I was running it I would have held out for the better prospects and ate more cash. That is the point of rebuilding. Get better higher draft picks, scout and acquire a few other teams prospects while trading good players to other teams.
Reading ad nauseum accounts time and again about Jack being a bone head just to turn around and read about what looks like bone head decisions again and again makes it difficult to cheer for these clowns.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anybody after the McNeil part of the Mets deal fell through. I'm sure they went with as much money as they could get on the Bruce deal as well.

Not so much a surprise as it is clarity given.

What?!?

This year is about rebuilding, what is Stanton thinking? The Yankees are paying just part of Encarnacion's salary.

What a joke, from mlbtr article on trade.
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal (Twitter link), the two teams are “essentially splitting the money” owed to Encarnacion for the remainder of the season.

Ok, he was a member of the M's for 75 games of the regular season I am not sure how ST figures into salary percentages of game checks but lets just use the regular season for this argument. 75/162 X 21.667 season salary= 11.636 M. So the "savings" adds up to a whopping 5.818 million +5 for next years buyout presuming you did not want an elite slugger playing on a loser. A team like Houston might just want to keep EE next year. The reality is that EE was owed at least 16.636 Million in salary and buyout and the M's are only paying 5.8. So with Bruce they eat 18 Million to get rid of 3 million and a no-name prospect. If the M's were willing to pay every dollar that would have added 10 million over what they have now in pay-out.

If I am GM I am sticking with a Houston or TB top 10 prospect for the A.L's leading HR hitter with a 140s OPS+.
I am thinking we could have gotten something like:
TB # 12 Nick Solak 2B/OF AAA Durham .283 .367 .502 .869
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 55 | Arm: 45 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50
Houston RHP Bryan Abreu | Rank: 7
Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 65 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 45 | Overall: 50

I realize that it is pointless but I am just flabbergasted at these two moves.

According to this, the M's (and their cash from TB) are paying all but $3M of Encarnacion's salary. The M's are also paying the $5M option for next year.
