Regardless he has a total of 3 catches in the past three games and is making $7M.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 4:25 pmOn a different note, anyone else see that in basically just the fourth quarter, the Niners threw for 3 TDs and over 220 yards? With a backup QB? I wonder if someone filmed Pete in the locker room. What does he say now? "You can't win a game only in the 4th quarter!"?
I somewhat defended the strategy...they didn't believe the Niners could come back. But we were about one inch from it becoming an 8 point game at one point. I just don't get it. And seriously. Is there a defense in football that is worse in soft coverage? We are honestly like ten yards off the receivers and our four pass rushers look like they are on lunch break!

Re: Seahawks vs Farty Whiners game thread
We run a lot of two TE sets and they are both pretty good blockers. If our WRs are going to continue to gouge apposing defenses, I'm not too worried about the TEs catching balls.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 7:31 pmWho, Olsen?
I'm wondering if Dissly will supplant him at some pount this season, but they did need some kind of insurance for him.
After watching us fall short of the sticks on third down after third down going to TEs last year I am surprised anyone cares about TEs getting balls. It's a nice thing, to worry about if a fourth string rookie RB is good enough or if our TEs are getting enough balls!

Olsen might be getting targets but he needs to be defended anyway, that has value, the offense is clicking and he is part of it, and I get the feeling he isn't complaining about his role in it, which has value too

I am not sure what you are getting at. There is no eligible receiver that will take the field and not be guarded, and no one said Olsen is complaining about anything. He isn't doing much, that is the point. You think just anyone can wear a # in the 80s and since they are on the field they have the same impact?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 4:02 amOlsen might be getting targets but he needs to be defended anyway, that has value, the offense is clicking and he is part of it, and I get the feeling he isn't complaining about his role in it, which has value too
He has underperformed, that was the point made. I don't think it matters, because the last thing I want to see is for us to stop getting it to playmakers so some TE can get tackled short of the line...but I do agree that Dissly should get the bulk of the TE targets.
Re: Seahawks vs Farty Whiners game thread
Love Dissly but still can't believe he just jogged out of bounds to stop the clock with 4 minutes left. Cost me the transfer of $100 from left and to my right hand.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 4:58 pmI am not sure what you are getting at. Re: Seahawks vs Farty Whiners game thread
There was more than five minutes left, and as I commented on the game thread....the clock continues to tick on out of bounds plays outside of five minutes. The announcers and Wilson where wrong there. And not only that, if Wilson is that concerned about the clock running, why throw a forty yard bomb on the very next play, which was first and ten.
Sometimes it blows me away what people don't get. As SOON as they got done criticizing Dissly and pointing out that Wilson yelled at him, the clock started ticking. Not one mention to the fact that, oh yeah, that rule changed like ten fucking years ago!
https://www.sportsrec.com/nfl-clock-sto ... 99511.htmlOut Of Bounds
Anytime a player in possession of the ball goes out of bounds the play clock stops. According to the NFL Rule Book, the clock is re-started once the officials spot the ball at the appropriate yard line on the field except during the last two minutes of the first half or the last five minutes of the fourth quarter. During these times the clock doesn’t start again until the next snap. The offense must run the play before the play clock runs to zero, however.
If a player in possession of the ball has his forward progress stopped in bounds and is then pushed out of bounds, the officials may mark the player down in bounds at the point of forward progress and signal for the clock to continue running.
I swear that I read the rule changed in 2008, but I can't seem to find that.
Re: Seahawks vs Farty Whiners game thread
Doesn't that say the clocks stops until the ball is spotted??? Basically same as a first down in college ball which is always pointed out as a big help to offenses trying to beat the clock.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 5:12 pmThere was more than five minutes left, and as I commented on the game thread....the clock continues to tick on out of bounds plays outside of five minutes. Re: Seahawks vs Farty Whiners game thread
It was about five seconds. Go back and watch the play. It is nothing like college, and the clock stopped until the next snap after the deep ball. Kind of stupid to chew out a TE for wasting five seconds when you wasted about 40 seconds and created a second and ten on the next snap! They announcers had just finished bitching about it when the clock started rolling. We easily let the play clock run down, burned plenty of time, then threw a ridiculous bomb to Lockett to stop the clock. Genius. Yeah, Dissly is the dumb one.

agree with Michael K on this one. I was yelling at my TV when the announcers were getting on Dissley. In college, the clock stops until the chains are set, which is usually enough time for the offense to get lined up. In the NFL, it only stops long enough for the ref to toss the ball to the other ref and put it down.
