Would/ Should the Mariners do this? What would it take?

Would Crawford/Trammel/ Carlson be enough?

I think it would be worth exploring at the very least.

Someone had pointed out the Mookie Betts trade as the type of package it might take to pry Lindor.

He's the right age to try and make an extension work. Same thing that made Gerrit Cole a nice free agent target- their best years are probably still ahead of them.

2011 was one of the worst drafts in history for the Mariners.... could have had Rendon, could have had Lindor, could have had Springer, could have had Trevor Bauer.... if we wanted Lindor we should have drafted him instead of taking a college pitcher...

I'm not so sure Lindor's best years are ahead of him.. but we could send plenty of prospects for him.... I like him, I like what we have in Crawford and Marte...I think I'd rather spend money on a 2-4 year deal for a veteran shortstop/utility Didi Gregorious and keep all my prospects for the time being. Didi could play anywhere in the infield or dh, he is also a switch hitter and I like his power and low strikeout rate.

yeah, I just saw the tweet that he was actually on the trade block, so figured it was worth a thread. Don't remember what players he suggested moving

Honestly, nothing. I wouldn't mess touching Lindor's salary structure going forward with our future. I'd wait to see what we have this year in Crawford before I decided on as to whether or not I think we need Lindor. But that's just my opinion. I could be totally wrong. Lindor could be the missing piece that we've needed all along.

He is an FA after next season so not sure what you are referring to in terms of salary structure. If it doesn't work out we trade him at midseason to recoup prospects or offer him a QO which he rejects and get another pick.

I'm referring to what a contract might look like going forward with this team. Yes he's a free agent superstar in 2021. Is he the RIGHT superstar that this team needs? I'm not quite sold. So when I say salary structure, all I'm alluding to is what his future demands might be. For instance, if he wants 10 years $300M(I'm just throwing a random number out there), then I'm out.

We have no idea where we are at in terms of financial structure commitments beyond 2021 due to Covid. I think we can take a rough guess, but as of right now, I don't know what the front offices plans are in terms of taking on a superstar like Lindor, or Bauer.
