No Game on Saturday!

Post by Michael K. » Thu Nov 05, 2020 8:22 pm

Cal can't keep their house in order, don't have enough healthy players to play a game, and it is called a No Contest? Why not a forfeit? Thanks to Larry the Cable Guy waiting until damn near Turkey Day to play football, there is NO WIGGLE room in the schedule. So, if the Huskies somehow run the table, then with the Conference Championship, who the hell is going to vote in a team that won 5 regular season games? Maybe I am reading too much into this, but play the game...or the team who is THE REASON you can't play the game forfeits! I wonder if maybe they would have found enough healthy players in that case?

There was only one player that tested positive but they have to do contact tracing on every other player apparently. I think the stricter covid policies in the Bay Area are why they can't field enough players for the game.

Anyway, the Pac12 is dying just like the West Coast in general.

Unreal. What a joke. Don't colleges have like almost 100 guys on the roster???

Whether it is California law or a bunch of drunken Berkley hippies that spread the virus...when else could the team responsible for the fact that the game isn't going to be played or made up get by with "no contest" and not have to forfeit? Jesus, just move the WAC to the Power 5 and get it over with! Or, better yet, ship Cal, Stanford, USC and UCLA to the WAC, give us four schools that might be able to play a game if one person on their team gets sick!

There aren't 100 scholarship athletes, but there is a reason that college teams often times have two players with the same jersey! It is a home game, and one sick kid means they cancel the entire game? Seriously, ship the Cali schools off until they can be trusted to play a damn game when one kid is sick! Tennessee and Buffalo played a game on Tuesday when Tennessee had positives on Sunday!

If it is a California rule, what happens when one Ram or Charger staff member tests positive on Thursday? Are they going to cancel an NFL game to contact trace?

My interest level in this season has gone from 3 to -1....or a scale of 1-100.

I watched about two quarters of an Alabama game at a buddies several weeks ago. I was a few whiskeys in, don't even remember who Bama was playing! That was about it. Watched one drive of the Clemson game last week. Otherwise? Nothing. That is saying a lot because I used to watch a lot of college football.

Yep, its sad. Nothing I loved more than waking up and watching the early games at 9am. I love the NFL but their is something indescribably wonderful about college football that doesn't exist this season. Oddly the NFL is relatively unscathed for whatever reason.

I commented on the Times article about it. Said that if one asymptomatic player will sideline the entire team, maybe the Huskies should play Boise State this week. Who ever was supposed to play Boise State gets a bye, and Cal can play in the Mountain West until such time that one asymptomatic player won't cancel and entire game. I am sure Boise State will jump at the chance to join the Pac.
